In its 125th anniversary year, the conservation charity National Trust is calling on the public to seize the leap day (Saturday 29th February) to help tackle the climate and nature crises by making one of a series of seemingly small but significant contributions that cumulatively will make a big difference. Members of the public are being asked to join the likes of politicians, business leaders and celebrities by making a pledge for nature this leap year. Suggestions include planting or sponsoring a tree, cutting food waste and switching to greener forms of transport. This Saturday, National Trust will be encouraging shoppers at Westfield Stratford City to make their own #PromiseForNature by adding promises on seeded paper in the shape of oak tree leaves to a bespoke 3-metre-tall oak tree installation.
