Admit it, you’re starting to feel a little festive, right? And if not, it’s definitely time to embrace some seasonal knitwear. From novelty to nice, we’ve got you covered. We’re talking everything from merry slogans to traditional Fair Isle; whatever you go for, make it joyful.

The official Save The Children Christmas Jumper Day on Thursday 8 December is fast approaching. The amazing day of fundraising will see millions of people up and down the country donating £2 each and then donning their reindeer-embellished jumpers. Plus, the UK government has promised to match every £2 donated. With all that extra cash, Save the Children has big plans to help mums and babies in Kenya. Now, if there was ever a reason (besides Christmas, obviously) to get on board, this is it.

We adore a bit of novelty fashion. Think sparkly Christmas trees, sequin puds and cute slogans; make it twee and make it fun. New Look, ASOS and H&M have all turned up the twinkle this year. Elf, Snoopy and Mickey Mouse are making appearances, but if the thought of wearing a cartoon character or gimmicky line from a festive film fills you with dread, you are not alone. Many do not want to forgo their style for one day of themed fashion; many would much prefer to spend their hard-earned money on a luxury piece of knitwear that will last. This too is very much ok.

British brand, Peregrine, is known for impeccably made sweaters and you won’t get more festive than their Alpine Chalet jumper. All Saints also has a gorgeous apres-ski-inspired collection, while Jigsaw and Boden have gone bold with those big Christmas bauble shades. Fair Isle and Jacquard knits certainly tick all the December style boxes, but be sure to team with slinky satin skirts for that perfect contemporary twist.

Our top tip: don’t hang about. Our picks have been flying out and we don’t want you to miss out. Get Christmas Jumper Day ready and snap up your fave…

Novelty doesn't have to mean tacky. We're just suggesting you embrace everything festive: start by upping the sparkle.
