I mean, I know February is the shortest month of the year, but it’s seriously racing by without a care in the world. Better still, it means we’re inching closer to the Summer months quicker so we don’t mind at all! That said, despite the brisk weather and storm Ciara trying to do her worst, this weekend is littered with cosy happenings around every corner. Here’s to one seriously sensational weekend ahead, my friends.
If there’s one man we have to thank in the food industry, it’s Dominique Ansel and his creation of the ‘cronut’. News of his latest endeavour has spread like wildfire, with eager cronut fans hoping for another spot to nab up his devilishly delicious creations. And, of course, we don’t want to be the bearers of bad news but there’s said to be no cronuts on the menu…
But, what you will find is a plethora of new experimental concepts just waiting to come alive. Tucked on Floral Street in Covent Garden, Ansel’s new concept champions the artistic expression of pastry cooking and techniques. With interiors inspired by treehouses, the two-storey venue will see you revive your inner child as you enjoy a bite to eat on the ‘treetop canopy’. Downstairs, you’ll find a bakery, while upstairs you’ll find a cosy bistro awaiting your arrival. This weekend in honour of Valentine’s Day, they’re setting up a ‘Tree of Love’ stand on the Piazza and will be offering free (yup, free!) desserts and polaroid photos for lovers on the ‘love bench’. How blooming romantic!
Prepare to experience a bingo night like no other at Peckham Springs’ Valentine’s themed drag bingo night. Hosted by two of London’s iconic queens, Johnny Bones and Mynxie, expect a night of sequins, sparkles and silliness. And, make your Aunty Mavis proud by winning the hefty cash prizes.
Veganuary may be long gone but it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a feast fit for a king, vegan style. This Saturday, Brigade Bar + Kitchen, the social enterprise restaurant who train up individuals affected by homelessness, will be inviting a series of talented chefs for an evening of gourmet vegan fare. All of the profits go towards funding for their training programmes.

The Broadway miracle production is making a beeline for the West End this week and, boy are we excited! The film that shone Julia Roberts into the spotlight, Pretty Woman: The Musical tells the story of a prostitute and a wealthy businessman who fall curiously, but sharply, in love. All we need now is a silky red ballgown and our very own Mr Gere on our arm…
