Sequins are synonymous with the festive season, and now, thanks to Holly Willoughby’s latest Instagram post, we’ll all be shimmying our way out of 2020 and into 2021 in the utmost style.

Every party season, the same trends appear. Their  rise in popularity is usually determined by their ability to morph you into a really beautiful Christmas decoration. It’s like all of a sudden we want to compliment the baubles and twinkling lights around us, and resemble the fancy-fringed tinsel we have swathed around the tree.

This season, is no exception, and sparkling party skirts have just been given the Holly Willoughby seal of approval. Her outfits on This Morning always prove to be pretty envy-inducing and just yesterday she posted a short video of herself, on Instagram, shimming away in a silver Asos skirt and White Company jumper.

Crucially, it’s the combination that really appeals – the comfort and allure of a cosy, wool jumper combined with the glaring glitteriness of a sequin, or sparkly skirt. The knit appeals to our stay-at-home selves while our inner – and somewhat suppressed – party Queen is all for the unabashed glamour of sequins.

As well as offering a pared-back solution to top-to-toe sequins, this genius pairing also lends itself to most types of footwear – trainers, boots, or heels. What’s not to love?!

So how does one achieve the new high-low mix? Keep scrolling to see our edit of the most dazzling skirt and knit combinations out there. From the high street hits to the best designer buys, there’s something for every budget.
