Calling all sneakerheads, if you’ve got a penchant for that boxfresh scent and your shoe rack is lined with more wheels than there are days in the year, you’re going to want to know about this internet shopping secret. Enter eBay. Yep, not just an auction site to buy pre-loved furniture and vintage garms, it’s also home to their Sneaker store, allowing you to shop some of the world’s most popular sneakers confidently, with monitored prices and full authenticity. Intrigued? Read on…
So what exactly do they sell?
Literally every trainer that’s hard to get your hands on, from Louis Vuitton Archlights to limited-edition Jordans, the fashion set’s favourite Converse x Comme des Garçons to love them/loath them Yeezy Boosts.
In fact, so big was the sneakerhead market on eBay that the online behemoth opened their very own warehouse dedicated to the cause, employing a team of people trained and passionate enough about footwear to be able to authenticate each one and sending them out to the customer ensuring a stamp down on the growing fakes market online.
How does it work?
You search for your trainer of choice, if you find the one you’re looking for, purchase and eBay will take care of the legal stuff. Their team of expert authenticators thoroughly inspect the item from the seller before sending it to the buyer. This includes everything from checking the logo labels to the soles, the boxes they come in and even giving them the sniff test – yep, these guys are so good they even know what a trainer should smell like (or not smell like in the case of many counterfeits).
They then double check the sneakers they have authenticated are the same as the listing in the seller’s description to ensure you’ll get exactly what you ordered. Each pair is then given an Authentication Tag – a unique NFC-enabled tag that provides detailed information about the pair’s authenticity. The tag also makes it easy to re-list the sneaker in the future.
Will it cost me extra?
No. The authentication comes as standard on all high value sneakers sold on eBay. And as the sneakers are coming from the warehouse, they will be sent out securely via a fast and free tracked delivery. All sneakers over £450 will have signature-required delivery.
So, whether you just missed out on last season’s hero sneaker or are looking to invest in some limited edition kicks that will only surge in price, check out eBay’s sneaker outlet now.
