It’s hard enough to start a diet in January – what with all those hidden Christmas chocolate treasures scattered around your house. Motivation, however, is the trickiest part. On learning that, Feng Sushi have decided to help. The Japanese sushi chain have created an affordable ‘door diet plan’ – in conjunction with leading nutritionist Yvonne Bishop-Weston – which is delivered straight to your door. The ‘Feng Diet’ costs a reasonable £95 for three days, and is essentially a twice-daily run of packages consisting of three meals and two snacks. Silla Bjerrum, Feng Sushi’s Managing Director, commented:  ‘Although there are a lot […]

Drag-Queen Dance Classes

The silly season may be over, but that doesn’t mean the ‘silliness’ has to end. Floridita – in Wardour Street – is still very much in the party spirit. They are hosting Drag-Queen Dance-Classes – led by the dancing drag troupe, The Globe Girls – from 18th January onwards. It’s billed as the ‘latest exercise craze’, but what exactly is one signing up for? Well, there’s a full-on dance routine to be enjoyed, lots of fun, laughter, glitter and fun … but in the end, it’s all designed to improve and work on muscle tone, flexibility, coordination and core strength. If […]

The Phene Winter Garden

Christmas shopping left you a little jaded? Don't despair. After hitting the King's Road tonight, head over to the phene. Creative director and owner Lily Bourne has transformed the venue's outdoor terrace into a Winter Wonderland and what, according to the weather forecast, will surely be the only snowy garden in Chelsea. Take the weight of all those shopping bags off your feet and kick back on comfy hanging seats and tree stools covered in super luxe fur rugs with (real-ish) snow carpeting the ground beneath. Soak up the festive atmosphere of soft lighting and twinkling fairy lights whilst sipping winter cocktails […]

End your year at SUDA

Not been brave enough to shell out cash and send yourself off for some Thai winter sunshine? Not to worry. Thailand’s come to us this December. SUDA, St Martin’s Courtyard Thai restaurant, is welcoming us all in for NYE. Except, there’s a twist: expect no set-menus. Instead, enjoy what you want from their long food lists… som tum salads, sharing platters of porpia tod and satay gai …or why not settle for their chilli jam fried rice alongside their green and red curries? So much choice … and yet so little space inside. Still, there’s room enough to make a dent. Head […]

Theatre Menu for NOPI

As soon as you walk into NOPI, it’s immediately clear Yotam Ottolenghi is behind it. A string of Asian flavours and those from the Middle-East, too, run through the menus of this all-day, modern brasserie … and it’s little wonder it’s fast becoming the discovered treasure tucked away behind busy Piccadilly. But the restaurant – whose piece de resistance is the long, canteen table which looks out into the open, frenzied kitchen in the basement – is getting just that little better. Because of its prime location in TheatreLand, NOPI has quite rightly produced its very own theatre menu. On […]

THIRTY SIX at Dukes London

At no. 36 Little St James Street, there’s a special new addition to London’s restaurant world. Aptly, its name is Thirty Six. But that’s where the unoriginality stops. Michelin-starred Nigel Mendham is in charge of this new restaurant, where the culinary focus is on the classic and the modern. It is normal to expect, for example, carrot cake served with liquid carrots and Salt Marsh lamb sticky ribs at one of the 36 (geddit?) chairs Thirty-Six owns. (Is it getting confusing yet?) As stylish as the quintessential hotel in which it is located, Mendham may have trouble accommodating everyone in at […]
