Bluebird Food Store hosts Sushinho.

Last night, Bluebird launched their pop up sushi boutique, where if you weren't concentrating, you may have thought you'd wandered into a relaxed Brazilian Carnival! With a variety of sushi, and fantastic cocktails provided by Sushinho, from just down the road who pride themselves on their Brazilian (large) portions of the cultural Japaneses cuisine. Of particular interest were the prawn and fresh strawberry pieces that went down extremely well with the Caipirinhas available. I was also left pleasantly filled by the seaweed wraps, yet still wanted more! Bento boxes will be available to take away, or if you prefer, to […]

Marylebone Summer Fayre

If you're going to relinquish just one of your days away from festivals and sun-blessed holidays this summer, give it to the Marylebone Summer Fayre. On Sunday 19 June, the annual Fayre – organised by The Howard de Walden estate – will be once more kicking off (10 am – 5pm) its shenaningans in the hope of this year raising more for its charity, Teenage Cancer Trust, than ever before. But this year, there's a special addition. Nobu lands in Cannes

Seven days down, four yet still to go. But would you be surprised to discover that notwithstanding all the head-turning glamour and star-filled red carpets, it’s food that has had everyone talking at this year’s Cannes Film Festival? The arrival of Nobu Berkeley ST’s pop-up restaurant has been the reason for the stir. For while most ‘Festival-goers’ have taken up the annual sport of judgement-passing – be it on outfit choice or film direction – there are others who have been just as happy flocking to the rooftop pool of boutique hotel 3.14 Cannes, idling, drinking or eating at Nobu’s newest […]

Bateaux London

We've done tea at The Ritz, Pret-a-Portea at The Berkeley and even Japanese Sencha cocktails at Shoreditch's Drunken Monkey served prohibition style in an oriental tea pot. But tea on The Thames was a new one on us til we discovered Bateaux London's version. While gliding past our favourite London landmarks – the London Eye to Tower Bridge – via the Tate Modern and St Paul's Cathedral, guests can enjoy traditional afternoon tea with a twist. Munch on a delicious array of sandwiches, pastries and scones to the strains of the Naticia's resident pianist for £29.50 or if you really […]

The Savoy Grill Opens

Today (29th November 2010) marks the opening of The Savoy Grill following the completion of the hotel's £220m renovation project. Under the auspices of Gordon Ramsay Holdings, Stuart Gillies and Andy Cook have created a classic French/British menu – think lobster thermidor and beef wellington. We are looking forward to taking a peak…apparently the hotel, grill and American bar have been restored to their former art deco glory. Christmas at Alain Ducasse

A few years ago, someone decided to take a stand against the notoriously lacklustre Christmas cracker – after all, a paper hat can only have limited entertainment value. The result was a new market niche for the ultimate in luxury crackers, beautiful gilded creations that hide infinite possibilities for teeny tiny supergifts. In the case of masterchef Alain Ducasse, the crackers on offer at his three Michelin-starred restaurant at the London Dorchester are the hiding place for a range of his most coveted and well-guarded recipes, including his infamous Rhum Baba. Foodies won't be the only ones rejoicing, as three […]

Baltic Cocktails

Our friends at the glamorous glass-roofed Baltic Restaurant have recognised that man cannot live by vodka alone. And that even ladies need a little mixer! To this end, master mixologist, Charles Vexenet, has been charged with creating a brand new cocktail menu that effortlessly blends innovative new concoctions with forgotten classics. So it's time to bring out your inner Russian and get on first name terms with Wyborowa, Luksusowa and Ulvuka. We love the Vodka Daisy with freshly squeezed lemon juice, homemade pomegranate syrup, caster sugar and a soupcon of soda water. But don't take our word for it. Until the […]

Pierre Koffmann at The Berkeley

As we wave goodbye to the Berkeley Hotel's Boxwood Café, Matthew Freud may well have his work cut out as far as Gordon Ramsay is concerned. However, as one door closes another opens and happily, this summer marks the return of the old school super chef! Yes, following his uber-subscribed pop-up venture atop Selfridges department store last year (proving so popular that its run time was more than doubled!), Pierre Koffmann is making a long awaited reprise at The Berkeley, home from 1998 til 2002 of his renowned and three-Michelin-starred La Tante Claire. Entitled simply Koffmann at Knightsbridge, the new brasserie style restaurant […]
