Selfridges Gets A New Rooftop Restaurant

Finally it’s tan-worthy weather and we’re all scurrying for the stairs to get us some of those rooftop rays. The rooftop terrace is all the rage and where better to capitalise on this than Selfridges? So it’s no surprise that they’ve chosen this week to launch a new restaurant, Alto by San Carlo. Replacing the longstanding relationship with restauranteur Des McDonald, San Carlo have wrestled control of this iconic rooftop and the result should be pretty decent. The restaurant group have been running restaurants for Selfridges for a while, but now they’ve acquired the crown jewell, we should expect good […]

Alpes: Brixton’s New Raclette Restaurant

Street food favourites, Raclette Brothers has big news, they will be opening their first permanent site and a brand-new concept at Pop Brixton, which means Raclette for all, all the time. Aptly named Alpes, they’ll be serving up dishes inspired by the Alps region (funny that), and it’ll be the first restaurant in London to serve Raclette on a traditional machine with the front of house team scraping melted cheese at the table in front of diners. Or if you don’t want to scrape your cheese over your ingredients and you’d rather dunk them in cheese, there’ll be fondues to […]

He might normally make a lot of noise in the kitchen, but Gordon Ramsay has rather quietly opened Street Pizza within Bread Street Kitchen. He’s kept things casual, saying that ‘pizza doesn’t need to be complicated’ so for £15 you’ll get bottomless sourdough pizza served by the slice in five flavours: Margherita, pepperoni, charred aubergine, corn and chorizo and a daily changing special. Cocktails will start at just £6, female DJs will take to the decks throughout the week, you can’t book and most importantly (after the pizza) there’s a Negroni ice-cream machine. As Ramsay says,  “If there’s one thing […]
