Is This The Finest Indian Restaurant In London?

What? The ancient Indian city of Benares is the holiest of holy cities, so it’s wholly appropriate that its London namesake should be one of the best Indian restaurants in the country. And one I had to make a pilgrimage to. New? Mark Twain once wrote that “Benares is older than history, older than tradition, older even than legend”, but Benares the restaurant is actually a mere 16 years old. Where? Sitting on the Eastern edge of Berkeley Square, the restaurant commands possibly one of the most prime locations in London. The look: A friendly doorman holds open the door […]

Fancy A Michelin Star Lunch For Just £6?

It’s not unknown to drop a good few hundred pounds on a half-decent dinner from a Michelin starred chef. Maybe worth saving for a special occasion, an anniversary or to celebrate a work promotion perhaps, but hardly an everyday occurrence. Unless you head to KERB at King’s Cross, where London’s cheapest Michelin Star lunch is being served daily at the unusually usurious price of £6 a pop. Yes, £6. Singapore Airlines and the Singapore Tourism Board have flown Hawker Chan, Head Chef at legendary Asian street food stall Chan Hong Men, over to pop up here for three days only […]

We Review: Butchies

What? Award-winning fried chicken goodness in all its glory now served in Shoreditch. New? Whilst the permanent restaurant is, Butchies has actually been around for five years. Back in 2013, Garrett Fitzgerald started a fried chicken stand at Broadway Market’s school yard. Opening a fried chicken stall in London is rather like putting on the YMCA at a wedding, you know it’s going to be a popular. Long queues saw Butchies move to Broadway Market’s main area the following year and then last November they made the move to Rivington Street and settled in their own permanent chicken coop.  Where? […]

12 Ways To Celebrate This Mother’s Day 2018

This Sunday it’s time to celebrate the leading ladies in our lives, our mums and the women who have raised us. They’ve been there through the ups and downs, they’ve seen it all, from our first steps when we were sweet and innocent to our angsty teenage years and confusing twenties. The least they deserve is an afternoon to be treated with a glass or three of prosecco. If you’re yet to choose what to do, check out some of the best events taking place throughout London. Park Chinois Park Chinois will be serving a special Mother’s Day lunch and […]

Grate Expectations: There’s a 3 Day Cheese Festival Coming

Easter weekend, normally a weekend dedicated to hot cross buns, lamb, Easter eggs and the obligatory Simnel cake but this year, break away from tradition and swap the chocolate sweats for the cheese sweats… they’re both dairy induced anyway. Grate Expectations will be returning with Cheese Town 3.0. for three days of gluttonous cheese eating. Taking up residency at Flat Iron Square in Borough, they’ll be joined by the likes of Mac to the Future, Meltsmiths, The Raclette Brothers and True North Poutine Co, who’ll all be serving up more cheese than you can imagine and most certainly eat. Gorge […]

The Middle East’s Best Restaurant Opens In London

London is already in love with Middle Eastern cuisine, with some of the best Lebanese restaurants in the world. Well now the bar is being raised even further with the arrival of quite possibly the best restaurant in the Middle East. Abd el Wahab, one of the most acclaimed Lebanese restaurants in the Middle East, has just opened its first international outpost on Belgravia’s Pont Street. The slick import is serving traditional Lebanese dishes alongside wines and Arabic coffees from the region, all set over two light-filled floors designed by Beirut-based Antonie Tabet & Associates. The menu will mirror the […]
