Kebab Awards 2018: The Best Kebabs In Town

The Oscars was nothing: Monday night celebrates the sixth annual Kebab Awards. Last year the event was compared by Radio 1’s Scott Mills and Chris Stark, Jeremy Corbyn’s handed out prizes and everyone from Theresa May and Sadiq Khan through to C-list celebrities wants to be involved. And so it’s no surprise that the kebbalicious entries this year are pretty strong. The prize we’ll be watching closely is the fine dining category where a number of strong London restaurants are serious contenders. Here they are…

Grate Expectations: There’s a 3 Day Cheese Festival Coming

Easter weekend, normally a weekend dedicated to hot cross buns, lamb, Easter eggs and the obligatory Simnel cake but this year, break away from tradition and swap the chocolate sweats for the cheese sweats… they’re both dairy induced anyway. Grate Expectations will be returning with Cheese Town 3.0. for three days of gluttonous cheese eating. Taking up residency at Flat Iron Square in Borough, they’ll be joined by the likes of Mac to the Future, Meltsmiths, The Raclette Brothers and True North Poutine Co, who’ll all be serving up more cheese than you can imagine and most certainly eat. The Middle East’s Best Restaurant Opens In London

London is already in love with Middle Eastern cuisine, with some of the best Lebanese restaurants in the world. Well now the bar is being raised even further with the arrival of quite possibly the best restaurant in the Middle East. Abd el Wahab, one of the most acclaimed Lebanese restaurants in the Middle East, has just opened its first international outpost on Belgravia’s Pont Street. The slick import is serving traditional Lebanese dishes alongside wines and Arabic coffees from the region, all set over two light-filled floors designed by Beirut-based Antonie Tabet & Associates. The menu will mirror the […]

Richmond Hotel Scoops Star Chef

The Petersham Hotel really must be the best London hotel to not really be in London in. With a commanding position over the river Thames this grand yet intimate gem has much to recommend it, an enviable location, gorgeous interiors and, now, Head Chef Jean-Didier Gouges. Gouges has taken the helm after heading up the team at Rhubarb’s flagship restaurant in the Royal Albert Hall and is already transforming the menu at The Petersham’s fine-dining restaurant into something both unique and special. Setting out in his native Mauritius, Gouges was trained in classic French techniques and it’s this culinary ‘bilingualness’ and understanding […]

We Review: by CHLOE London

What: Super popular, American, fast food, vegan restaurant (a mouthful I know), by CHLOE, has landed in London! It’s worth noting (for me) that ‘by CHLOE’ is the correct name and not an ongoing grammar mistake. New? by CHLOE is brand spanking new, it opened at the beginning of February in Covent Garden which made it the first international restaurant for the group who has 8 others in USA. Where? 34-43 Russell Street, Covent Garden WC2B 5HA www.eatbychloe.com On the menu: The menu is a mix up of all the best comfort foods you can think from fish and chips to […]

A Dinner Party With Your Favourite Chef

What were your highlights of 2017? We’re guessing it wasn’t the Trump inauguration, the signing of Article 50 or election of Emmanuel Macron. But hopefully you had Mark Hix’s Tales From The Kitchen Library hovering somewhere near the top of your list. However, if you were unlucky enough to miss it, then fear not, it’s back. The format for the series of kitchen collaborations is to put some of the nation’s leading chefs in a kitchen together with chef and restauranteur Mark Hix, enjoy stories of their lives and gorge on a five-course menu, all in the intimate setting of […]
