Sky Garden’s New Pop-Up Summer Bar

As if sky high drinking wasn’t enough, Sky Garden has announced a pop-up vodka bar to keep us occupied over a busy summer of socialising. 155m and 37 floors above the City, the aptly named City Garden will help you start your day well with a range of fresh-pressed juices and all round virtuous breakfast dishes almost as green as your surroundings. Sky Garden is London’s highest public garden so a suitably botanical cocktail menu is needed. Belvedere Vodka have teamed up with the venue to launch Belvedere Spritz City Garden Bar. Shaking up vodka-laced libations with refreshing hints of […]

We are in no doubt that London is the world’s culinary capital – and we’re in good company. Respected food critics Grace Dent and Tom Parker Bowles have joined forces for the UK’s biggest food festival; Evening Standard’s London Food Month. The festival runs throughout June – we have already told you about the pop-up kitchen with a whopping 40 Michelin stars – and will see hundreds of events across the capital from high-end dinners to free community events to celebrate the diversity of our city. Deckchairs, Daybeds and BYOB Cocktails: Fulham’s Getting an Urban Beach

Fulham. Home to Fulham Football Club, Fulham Palace, the Sloaney Pony and…not much else. We’re not anti SW6 we just think there are more exciting places that spring to mind when you think of summer drinking, dining and all round socialising. That may have been the case but things are about to change and we’ll all be hopping on the Wimbledon branch of the District Line come 10th May. Alfresco drinking is about to get a whole lot better as Fulham welcomes Neverland London; a 20 metre Thameside beach complete with deck chairs, swings, palm trees and pastel-coloured beach huts. Authentic beach […]

The Handbook Meets Jimmy Garcia

Having just announced his new BBQ Club, we caught up with the King of Pop-Ups, Jimmy Garcia, to find out his secret tips for a good pop-up, his most memorable moments and what happened live on Sunday Brunch. What drew you to pop-ups? Having worked as a chef throughout school and college as well as on yachts in the summers between university, I ended up hating my job as a broker in the city. I really missed cooking for people and after reading about a guy in North London turning his home into a restaurant I thought f**k it, let’s […]

Dine Up Close and Personal With a Michelin-Starred Chef

We all love eating in Michelin-starred restaurants and we love attempting to recreate the food at home (the key here being ‘attempting’) but sometimes our interpretations of dishes aren’t quite like the real deal… You’ll be wanting to make room on your cookery bookshelf because Michelin starred chef Nathan Outlaw has written up a new cookbook, Home Kitchen. It’s his fourth book but it’s the first to have everything covered – and we mean everything – from meat and fish right through to dessert. He’ll be launching his book with a dinner (how else?!), showcasing some recipes from the book at […]

Sandwich Fest

London’s Greatest Sandwich Festival

Oh a good old sarnie. Sometimes, nothing can beat it. We’ve even dedicated a week to celebrating it. Yep, British Sandwich Week is a thing. And now, so is Sandwich Fest – thanks to a successful crowdfunding campaign. The festival will see the best of London’s sandwiches all brought to one courtyard, located on Hackney’s Warburton Street. A coincidence? We like to think not. Expect food from the likes of Brindisa, famed for their chorizo roll; Grill My Cheese, who put gourmet twists on the classic grilled cheese; Le Bao, you know, those fluffy cloud like buns filled with a […]

Female Chefs Unite for Pink Plates Fundraiser

There are over 86 million photos on Instagram with the hashtag ‘pink’ and the London restaurant scene is proving suitably on trend with pastel pink interiors galore. One blogger actually tested the colour theory by posting photos which were predominantly pink for a week – the result? They performed much better than normal images. It seems people just can’t get enough and we’re about to give you another reason to #pink. Throughout May and June, Exmouth Market restaurant, Moro will lead fundraising efforts across London, operating under the name ‘Pink Plates’. The idea is simple: dine and donate to the […]

10 of London’s Best Tapas Restaurants

We love tapas. There’s something about being able to try a whole range of different dishes that satisfies every single tastebud and subconsciously makes you feel like you’ve eaten less than you probably (actually) have. You’ll soon know your Brindisa from your Barrafina and your Boqueria from your Bocca di Lupo. Work your way through the list or just head to Soho; it’s a good place to start. Prepare for buzzy atmospheres and informality and prepare to queue; most don’t take reservations but are well worth the wait.

DIY Smores, Table Top Barbecuing and Spanish Gin Cocktails

Southbank is getting a summer pop-up. We’ve seen the urban beach, the roller disco and the helter skelter but this time around there’s a foodie focus as pop-up king, Jimmy Garcia launches The BBQ Club. A walk-up BBQ bar means you can saunter along the river, Aberdeen Angus steak burger in hand, but for the real experience you’ll want to head upstairs to the rooftop dining area. A 6-course tasting menu will be prepared for guests by their very own chef at a Big Green Egg grill (aka the ultimate piece of BBQ equipment) resembling a kind of intimate supper […]

London’s First Rooftop Roller Disco, Cinema, Crazy Golf and Bowls Club

Warmer temperatures, sunny weather and lighter evenings can only mean it’s time for the return of Roof East! We don’t know about you, but we can’t think of anywhere else in London where you can watch the sunset over the Olympic Park with the city skyline in the backdrop whilst surrounded by crazy golf, rollerblading, hip hop beats, cocktails and street food. To celebrate its return, the creators of Roof East are putting on a turbo-charged social fun and games club. Last year’s attractions will all still be there but for 2017 it’ll be better than ever. Birdies crazy golf is returning […]

London’s Favourite Rooftop Cinema is Back for Summer

Summer is on its way, shout it from the rooftops! Well, four rooftops in particular: the Bussey Building (Peckham), Roof East (Statford) The Queen of Hoxton (Shoreditch) and Kensington Roof Gardens, who have just been announced as participating venues for the summer 2017 series of Rooftop Film Club. As we trade our underground cinemas for the sky-high, al fresco variety, some things never change – predominantly boxes of popcorn and an action-packed programme of cult classics and recent releases. It’s lights, camera, action (literally) on Thursday 4th May as The Rooftop Film Club presses play on films featuring iconic rooftop […]
