Our Guide to… Top Celebrity Entrepreneurs

When it comes to picking out rising stars, we often look for those described as having “the triple threat”: all singing, all dancing and really rather beautiful. However, in recent years, in a bid to secure longevity, we have noticed that a lot of these stars have added another threat to their list: intelligence. Who says you can’t have it all. Yes, it would seem that increasingly celebrities are using their fortunes for good, taking on an Apprentice-like air and starting up some oddly successful businesses. With that in mind, we have put together a list of our favourite celebrity […]

The ever changing Carousel

Carousel, on Blandford Street Marylebone is one restaurant you can never get bored of. Why? Because the chefs are constantly changing, with different residencies happening every couple of weeks or so, blink and you’ll miss one. Recent collaborations have included Selin Kiazim, Javier Rodriguez and Tommy Forster and guess what? They’ve just announced the chefs that are joining Ollie Templeton, resident chef and co- founder in January.  Kicking things off is Uyen Luu,  food writer, chef, the founder of the acclaimed Vietnamese Supper Club (and comes with a personal recommendation from Jamie Oliver!) before the talented Henrik Noren takes over […]

Our Guide to… January Discounts

As ever after Christmas, it is likely we’ve all had a shift in pounds, far too few in our wallets and for too many on the scales. But you needn’t despair, as we have created a handy guide of restaurant, bars and venues who have kindly discounted their prices to help easing us into the brand spanking new year a little easier. 25% off Champagne Afternoon Tea at Boyds While some of you may be detoxing, some you of may still be (rightly so) enjoying the finer things in life, nothing against the vegetables of the world but we just […]

It’s not all lads, lads, lads at Cafe Football

Footballers Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville have left stereotypes of dingy old man pub where men are typically seen watching sports and transformed it into an upmarket sports bar in Westfields Stratford. A burger and pizza restaurant mainly, Café Football has dedicated one side of the venue to a bar which serves, amongst other things, delicious cocktails. While it may not be girl friendly, looking around we are quite obviously in the minority, it is by no means an intimidating space to enter. The theme of football runs strongly throughout the venue and obvious care has gone into every aspect […]

Edible Science

Ah January and its New Year resolutions, we decide in the bleakest month that now is the time to go on 6am runs and to live on a sober diet of green juices, but we say beat off the January blues with a little spot of afternoon tea – because everyone needs a treat after a spinach, kale and spirulina breakfast. Running until 6th February is the Ampersand’s science afternoon tea, which after sandwiches (which include coronation chicken and cheese with fruit chutney) and scones with clotted cream will be serving up science inspired cakes. Think mango mousse volcanoes, chocolate […]

L’eto Launches Brompton Road Venue

L’eto café has just opened its largest branch on Brompton Road, a tourist’s amble from sightseer favourites the Natural History Museum and V&A. Don’t let the location put you off though as this is no tacky restaurant, there isn’t a ‘keep calm and…’ poster in sight. The high end café lures customers in with an impressive patisserie display sure to rival any in France, from cupcakes, to éclairs, to brownies; you’d need a saint’s restraint not to find yourself walking in. Once inside you have the option of the savoury buffet like selection or the recently launched European À la […]

The Pig & Goose Review

The newly opened Pig & Goose, nestled above the charming and charismatic pub The George on the Strand and opposite the formidable Royal Courts of Justice, is really one of those hidden gems that if you are not looking out for you will miss….and that would be a great shame. Once you’ve made your way through the suits downstairs in the pub enjoying a stiff drink after work, you’re warmly welcomed up a flight of stairs to this new elegant restaurant and lounge. Refurbished last Autumn, the Pig & Goose has retained its charm and elegance as well as managing […]

Saint or Sinner?

For some, January is the start of the detox the chance to get rid of some chocolate and Christmas pudding induced toxins, whilst for others it’s the last chance to eat comfort food before spring when we all have to shed off the layers. Either way the Cubitt House pubs have it sorted (that’s The Grazing Goat, The Orange, The Thomas Cubitt and The Alfred Tennyson – if you didn’t know) with their Saint or Sinner menu. Running from the 5th January to 13th February diners can choose either a salad and fresh juice for £13 if you’re feeling saint like […]

A London Road Trip

Remember when you were younger and you watched Britney strut her stuff in Crossroads? Did it make you want to take a road trip? Us too, which got us thinking…why not take a road trip round London. Now, we know that us Brits are probably not the most renowned for our navigational skills, but that is what Google maps are for. And whilst the likes of Uber and the tube have revolutionised our lives- after a week commuting, you sometimes just want to to enjoy the city from the comfort of your car. Belt up, open the roof of your […]
