Muffin Compares To London’s Huge Dessert Festival

We’ve found a festival that we’ll never dessert and, more importantly, we need to tell you all about it. The London Dessert Festival’s got a pretty sweet line-up compared to, say, Glasto, one that swaps Mariah for macarons and Skepta with S’mores and well, it sounds all kinds of delicious. That’s right, if you’re a fan of all things sugar, you must be aware of the very first London Dessert Festival, which arrives this August and promises immersion, treats and Instagrammable everything. Now, we’re well aware that there are a rare species of people out there who aren’t, as they […]

The UK’s First Cancer Cookery School Opens

Being diagnosed with cancer is a tremendously upsetting and often lonely time. To help fight back against cancer, food writer and stylist, Ryan Riley is setting up the UK’s first cancer cookery school, which launches June 4th. Ryan founded Life Kitchen, a non-profit organisation, in memory of his mother Krista Riley who passed away in 2014 from small cell lung cancer. Ryan set up Life Kitchen after his mother struggled with the loss of appetite and taste during her chemotherapy treatment. In hope of bringing the joy that food and cooking brings to us in everyday life, the organisation has […]

What’s It Like To Dine 100ft In The Sky? And What If You Need The Loo?

You probably lost count of the number of times you were told, as a child, to make sure that all four chair legs remained on the ground. Well this is a rule-follower’s nightmare, because all chairlegs were at least 100ft from the ground as I was hoisted to enjoy a meal dangling from a crane in Canary Wharf. Yes, London In The Sky is back! Undoubtedly London’s most exhilarating dining a pop-up, sees you served breakfast, lunch or dinner (not to mention Champagne Taittinger flights), and we overcame vertigo to go. So what’s it like? Your first thought is ‘What […]

The Culinary Summer Festival You Need To Feast At

What do the British love about summer? Well, aside from the obvious – ahem, Love Island – there’s also the prospect of a bit of good old fashioned sunshine and the ability to dine al-fresco. And, pandering to the latter is Le Cordon Bleu, as they introduce their first Summer Festival event  on Saturday 29th June, which will see Brits swapping burnt BBQ sausages with a serve of some seriously high-end cooking. Le Cordon Bleu London, founded in Paris all the way back in 1895, is a stickler for culinary prowess, as the largest network of hospitality schools in the world. […]

OK, so we’ve got some great news and it involves a whole load of steak and wine and, as a result, a whole lot of feeling fine! Bottomless brunchers, eat your hearts out, as steak aficionados Gaucho Smithfield have just launched their bottomless steak and wine evenings named Beef & Bottle and, to be perfectly honest, we can’t think of a better way to spend a weekend! If you’re someone who pops steak night on the calendar more regularly than sex night, then this is one for the beefy bucketlist. Gaucho wows with its Argentine flavours and the restaurant group are luminary […]

The Handbook Meets Chef Nathan Hindmarsh

Existing as a quintessentially British gem sitting snug in Mayfair, The Chesterfield oozes charm, personality and some seriously yummy food. In light of this, we caught up with Head Chef Nathan Hindmarsh, whose aim is to “showcase British cuisine at its finest, tempered with international touches, using only the freshest ingredients of the highest quality.” Having recently launched a plant-based menu to run alongside the Chelsea Flower, Nathan talked me through his use of locally sourced ingredients and plans for the menu. How did you come to work at The Chesterfield? I actually just went through the typical stages. I […]

The Chelsea Indian Where Everyone’s Your Friend

The mark of a good restaurant must be when the locals chatter away to the staff like they’re old friends, and at Chelsea’s Kahani it practically feels like a school reunion. It’s also a strong indication of the calibre of cooking, and on that basis I think I’ll soon be a regular at this South Indian restaurant. Kahani, is the first solo venture from the former head chef at Michelin-starred Tamarind. Peter Joseph grew up in Tamil Nadu (India’s most southern state) and was inspired to become a chef by his mother’s passion for good food in the home. Kahani […]

The Tree-Mendous Jungle Terrace You Need To Visit

As sunnier climes creep up to finally drench London in a bit of well-deserved sunshine, we’re all hands on deck when it comes to the idea of a terrific terrace and a tantalising tipple. And, pandering to our post-work aperitif and glass-clinking dreams is the much-adored Dalloway Terrace; a venue that has really decided to play upon the theme of Leonard Woolf’s book, village in the jungle this summer. Offering up a ‘Jungle Lunch’ menu set amongst the flora and fauna of a re-imagined Sri Lanka, the terrace is steeped in gorgeous embellishments of giant banana leaves, tropical ferns and palm […]
