Boyds Brasserie Afternoon Tea

If there’s anything we love at The Handbook it’s a good afternoon tea; delicious cakes and sandwiches down-sized to miniature portions, shrinking down those pesky calories with it meaning you are free to indulge in twice as much! (That’s my story and I’m sticking to it). So when we were invited to Boyds Brasserie, a lounge bar and restaurant focused on smart British fare situated a few minutes’ walk from Charing Cross station, we were more than happy to attend. Kicking off the savoury section to their afternoon tea are the Potted Shrimps served with Lemon and Crisp Bread which […]

Brunch at Q Grill

Last weekend we might have over indulged in the wine, just by a glass or two and the next morning we were in need of brunch… desperately.  This wasn’t time for green juices or spirulina, this was time for fried eggs, bacon and toast. So we headed off to Camden (all the way from south London- dedication to the cause) to Q Grill having heard that it has recently launched its brunch menu. For those who haven’t been Q Grill has that New York apartment feel:  exposed brick walls, low hanging lights, leather booths and high bar chairs and chalk […]

Pork Life

This weekend head to Dalston Yard for a celebration of all things pig (although maybe stay away if your affection lies in their happy-go-lucky nature rather than their delicious taste). Pork Life is a new street food festival, born through a collaboration between Masterchef champion Tim Anderson and Big Eater (the talented team behind Chilli Chilli Bang Bang, National Burger Day and Ribstock). They, with the help of a whole host of your favourite vendors, (Bubbledogs, NanBan, Turner & George, Le Swine and Q Grill to name but a few) will be serving up all the classics – bacon sarnies, […]

Nozomi’s New Look

Forget January, September is the month of new starts, a new season, that inevitable going back to school feeling and after a summer of alfresco drinking we have just enough time to detox before we’re back to partying for Christmas. Luxury restaurant, Nozomi has also had a new start by undergoing a bit of a transformation. Open for lunch and dinner, Nozomi clients vary from the well-heeled, discerning local residents to international travellers, and well-known celebrities such as Jay Z, Rihanna, Jennifer Lawrence, and Usain Bolt to name a few, but rather than contemporary fame they’ve looked to the 1920’s […]
