Bibigo Review

We featured Bibigo when it launched back in September last year but have only just gotten round to a proper visit. First impressions? LOTS of Oriental diners which boded extremely well and at 7.30pm on a Friday night the place was heaving with a cool fashion forward crowd (hello super limited edition Kenzo sweater to my left). The menu is as hip and healthy looking as the clientele. We started with a couple of the small dishes to share – Sweet & spicy rice cake (with sweet potatoes and okra glazes with chilli sauce) so much better than a bread […]

Head Over To Alice’s House

The Alice House in Queens Park is an upmarket pub that is helping to shed the old fashioned image of dingy, derelict pubs where no one under the age of 30 dare enter. It sits on the corner of Salusbury Road a mere 5 minute drive from its sister pub, The Alice House in West Hampstead. Inside are various sofas and dining areas to relax with a spider like mash of wires creating a beautiful lighting fixture covering the ceilings. The food here is simple but exquisite and definitely does not disappoint. The Pea mousse starter was a simple idea […]

Yo! Burger

So when I got the Yo! Burger press release, I must admit I rolled my eyes. Another fad. However, I take it back. This is one good fad! The ‘buns’ are made of rice and there are five options: Chicken (seasoned with teriyaki sauce and served on a bed of lettuce with red onion, mayonnaise and topped with diced pineapple and white sesame seeds), Prawn (prawn cutlet served on white cabbage spiced with a dollop of curry mayonnaise and a sprinkle of spring onion and diced beni shoga), Salmon (kimchi salmon on a bed of lettuce, kimchi pickled vegetables and […]

The 1851 Restaurant Returns to Kensington

Taking its cue from J M Barrie’s infallible butler, The Admirable Crichton has made a name for itself in the event planning industry, organising parties for royalty and socialites alike. Now opening its June pop-up restaurant for the third year running, The Crichton has done what it does best, admirably of course. The 1851 Restaurant and Bar is taking over a marquee at The Albert Memorial in Kensington Gardens for one week only, 13th – 19th June. Perennially popular, this year the marquee will be transformed into an indoor garden, complete with aquamarine tables, luxuriant summer flowers and Cyprus trees, […]

Benugo takes it outside at The British Museum

Benugo which operates the restaurant and cafes within the British Museum, has just parked two American inspired food trucks in its forecourt. The trucks, to be a permanent fixture, serve a variety of American street food, from toasties, hot dogs and chowders to cakes, coffees and ice creams. Hot dogs include the Original (pork frankfurter, mustard, ketchup, crusty baguette), or the Bratwurst (German sausage, smoked chilli ketchup, crispy onion, sauerkraut, white torpedo) – top them off with crispy onions, chilli, grated cheese and sauerkraut – or you can pick up a New Yorker (turkey breast, crispy bacon, Gruyere, tomato, iceberg […]

Jazz Brunches at Criterion

There are two things which can guarantee a good Sunday morning, brunch and a little bit of jazz. There is something about them that are synonymous with hazy, lazy weekends and we say indulge in both. Where? At Criterion in Piccadilly. They are teaming up with Jazz FM, every Sunday throughout June to bring you live performances alongside brunch.  Things get going this weekend at 12pm, (perfect if you have been out partying the night before) with the first performance coming from the wonderfully talented singer-songwriter and pianist Joanna Eden, who is said to be Britain’s answer to Norah Jones. Yes, you can feast on a selection of sliders – classic beef (reared at the Duke of Buccleuch's Estate), lobster, and chicken Caesar too with a mini pot of crunchy fries on the side.
