My London: Plot Tooting’s Favourite Spots in South West London

When Plot opened in Tooting Broadway Market in January, Londoners came flocking, and it confirmed suspicions that SW17 really is the place to watch for all things foodie. Cousins Harry Smith and Mark Kimber are behind the tiny 15-cover restaurant which proudly names its producers and suppliers, be it meat from Chadwick’s on Tooting High Street or fish from Moxons in Clapham South. It’s no surprise, then, that they champion local in their day to day lives too, so we asked the pair for their favourite places to visit in South West London. Here are their picks:

Coyote Ugly Themed Bar Opens in Soho

There’s a new joint in town and it has great night out written all over it…not literally, it’s actually called Dirty Harry’s. Opening on Wardour Street, it’s harking back to the 90’s and channelling the Coyote Ugly vibes. It’s all about burgers, bourbon and bar top performances (that last one doesn’t quite roll off the tongue). Choreographed by Paulette Minott who has worked with the likes of Neo, Rihanna and Craig David, Harry’s Honey will perform on the bar three times a night and rumour has it they will spray you with beer too. Talking of beer, they have 44 […]

Hotdog Hunting this Easter at bubbledogs

When you were a kid, the best thing about Easter (besides stuffing your face with chocolate) was always the Easter egg hunt (and then stuffing your face with chocolate once again). Bubbledogs are bringing back that joy, but with an adult twist, and on the streets of London. The gourmet Champagne and hotdog bar will be hiding 1,000 Champagne-shaped keepsakes and substituting your back garden for the more spacious, albeit far less green, areas of Soho and Fitzrovia to hunt the ‘bottles’ down. These bottles will be hidden high and low, inside and out, tucked away in offices and under […]

Heinz Baked Beanz Pop-Up Bar at Selfridges

Beans, beans, good for your heart, the more you eat, the more you… Ok, enough with the bodily functions. The UK’s favourite tinned beans (or should we say the UK’s only tinned beans?) are this year celebrating 50 years since the slogan ‘Beanz Meanz Heinz’ was first penned – a little saying that has become iconic on those bluey/green cans of joy. Two million people a day enjoy Heinz beans and a can is sold in the UK every 17 seconds so it’s fitting that the occasion is being celebrated at one of the UKs most iconic department stores. Heinz […]

The Handbook Meets Dominique Ansel

Dominique Ansel is the man behind one of the most talked about foodie creations in recent history, we are of course talking about the Cronut ®, the delicious croissant, doughnut hybrid. Having opened his bakery in London last year, we caught up with him to talk all things indulgent, because there is a lot more to his repertoire than the Cronut ®. You’re mainly known for the Cronut ® did you think it was ever going to be as successful as it is? This is a question I get asked often. And I don’t think anyone could’ve imagined that the Cronut® would be […]

London’s Most Expensive Easter Egg

What stands at a metre high, weighs over eleven stone and is edible? It’s Hotel Café Royal’s Easter egg. Obviously. Executive Pastry Chef, Sarah Barber, has gone all out this year with the Easter offerings by creating an incredible Easter egg made from a Valrhona chocolate shell, filled with gold Dulcey pecan nut praline and painted in edible chocolate gold leaf. It takes three days to make and will set you back a mere £600 (we’re not sure if it is London’s most expensive Easter egg but let’s not get pedantic here).  There will also be one on display in […]
