Artistry in Alchemy at SUSHISAMBA

So the weather is a bit hit and miss at the moment, even for Britain it’s a miserable summer. So when the sun does decide to shine you need to make the most of it. You need to ditch everything, get off the tube, get out of the office, leave the underground bar and head to a terrace. So when the sun did shine the other day that is exactly what we did, we went to the highest terrace we could find – the Tree Terrace at SUSHISAMBA. Why? Because Artistry in Alchemy is running until the end of August […]

Aqua Nueva’s New #FitnessBrunch Series

Working out is not always quite as pleasant as we would hope it to be. Far too often we hop out of bed and head to the gym in the hopes of releasing some tension and much-needed endorphins only to have our zen dreams squandered by crowded treadmills and displeasing grunts surfacing from the weight machines. Lucky for us, aqua nueva is providing an alternative means to getting that summer body, even if the gloomy London weather prevents us from ever actually showing it off.  Regent Street’s stunning rooftop terrace at aqua nueva will be hosting a #FitnessBrunch series on Sundays where ticket holders can participate in an […]

The Little Yellow Door’s Quirky Cocktail Tea Party

If there’s one thing all Brits love to do – it’s drink. Whether that be a gin and tonic in the middle of a cramped club floor or a spot of tea on Sunday afternoon, it’s undeniable that our weekends (and admit it, weekdays) are brimming with liquid delights. And thanks to London’s most beloved flatmates at The Little Yellow Door, we don’t have to decide whether we want to revel in one love versus the other. The friends will be throwing open their yellow door on Saturday afternoons to host a Notting Hill cocktail tea party, complete with quirky alcohol infused pots of […]

Hatchetts: A Piece of London History

One of the most distinct characteristics of London is the mingling of modern components with cherished historic landmarks. Every street and building has a story, and while we may not be aware of each one, that does not discredit the role each structure has played in London’s illustrious past. Hatchetts cherishes the historical impact its namesake has made, and seems to pay homage to its deep history at every corner of the two-story establishment.  Hatchetts was originally a hotel and coffee house in Piccadilly that dates back to Dickens. The cellar bar beneath the hotel was once a waiting room for weary travelers en route […]

Rok Opens in Islington

Last summer Shoreditch saw the opening of Rok, a restaurant serving up Nordic influenced dishes and safe to say it was a success. So this summer they’re opening restaurant number two in Islington. Executive chef Matt Young will be overseeing the menu and the sixty cover restaurant will open with seasonal summer offerings which will feature classic dishes from their Shoreditch restaurant (such as duck with lingonberry bacon jam and wood smoked peach) as well as new dishes. These include mackerel with pickled onions and flamed crispbread; local grown guinea fowl with semi-cured pork belly and butter poached wild vegetables; […]

Assado Review – What We Thought

New? Relatively new – it only opened in 2014. Where? 157 Waterloo Road, Lambeth, SE1 8XA, On the menu: Pan-Indian cuisine with a few British curveballs thrown in like Assado crumb fried fish and chips. First Impressions: Very casual but smartly presented, the open plan kitchen reveals the chefs hard at work plus a Kamado grill and wood-burning ovens. This isn’t the kind of place you need to get dressed up for but the venue itself is anything but shabby. The Look: The front wall is made of glass, flooding the venue with light – when combined with the high ceilings it gives the restaurant […]
