400 Rabbits Review – What We Thought

New? New to Nunhead, 400 Rabbits opened its doors in August, following on from popularity in Crystal Palace. Where? 143 Evelina Road, Nunhead, SE15 3HB, www.400rabbits.co.uk  On the Menu: Sourdough pizza, craft beer and gelato. That’s pretty much it albeit with a little more thought given to each component to make it the best it can be, so think San Marzano DOP tomatoes, fior di latte (cow’s milk) mozzarella, AllPress Coffee and charcuterie from Borough Market’s Cannon & Cannon. Gluten free bases are available but the dough is really special so if you can, go for the real deal. The sourdough is […]

Where? Lancaster London, Lancaster Terrace, W2 2TY www.lancasterlondon.com On the Menu: Finger sandwiches, bitesize choux buns and mini tartlets are joined by a host of spooky sweet treats such as spider web lollypops, shattered glass cupcakes and Frankenstein macaroons. A selection of scones are served warm, fresh from the oven. First Impressions: Greeted by a waiter in a blood splattered apron with eerie music playing softly in the background, I have felt more at ease but his warm smile gave the impression […]

Homeslice Wells Street Review: What We Thought

New? As is the case with many successful restaurants that have opened in recent years, Homeslice began life back in 2011 at street food markets in east London. Fast forward a few years and the humble hand-built wood fired oven has moved on to three sites, the original in Neal’s Yard being the cosiest (and therefore often having the longest queues). Where? There are currently 3 in central London; Shoreditch, Covent Garden, and Fitzrovia, where we went; 52 Wells Street, Fitzrovia, W1T 3PR, www.homeslicepizza.co.uk  On the Menu: Homeslice is known for its vast 20” pizzas, all the same price and recommended […]
