East meets West at Tom’s Kitchen Chelsea

It’s always an exciting thing when two greats are reunited i.e. Bill & Ted, and now former colleagues Tom Aikens and the Typing Room’s Lee Westcott have come together for one blissful night of cooking magic. The pair will introduce a 5 course menu, created by them, where they explain the skills involved in creating the Modern European dishes. The two chefs first met at Tom Aikens’ eponymous two Michelin-starred restaurant, where afterwards saw Lee Westcott travel around the world and working with Jason Atherton before coming back to the UK to become Executive Chef of the hugely successful Typing […]

Bo Drake Review – What We Thought

When it comes to fusion cooking, Scottish-Chinese chef Jan Lee at Bo Drake is certainly standing out from the crowd and making a big impression with his Korexican cuisine. His unique idea of fusing together East Asian cuisine with smoky BBQ cooking methods from Europe and America has got people talking, and more importantly eating. Think tapas, but with an Asian twist, then a Mexican twist, then back to an Asian. And it kind of seems to go around in that flavour cycle… Situated on Greek Street, every table has a flickering candle, with a choice of intimate dining at […]

Matthew Williamson Afternoon Tea review – what we thought

Renowned British fashion designer Matthew Williamson has once again created an afternoon tea for Balthazar, inspired by his Autumn Winter 2015 collection. His designs take inspiration from the twelve signs of the zodiac, with birthstones such as amethyst and sapphire influencing the rich jewel colour palette which is brought over to the tea created by Balthazar’s Head Pastry Chef, Régis Beauregard. On arrival at Balthazar we were welcomed by a friendly host who saw us to our table, meandering our way there I observed that it was busy but not too hectic. Jazz music played softly in the background as we […]

The Ritz’s 110th Anniversary

2016 is the year of a very special anniversary, it’s the 110th birthday of a very British and very London institute, The Ritz. The packages start at the end of February with a private tour of the Earl and Countess of Carnavon’s home, Highclere Castle. If you’re not familiar with […]

House of Ho Review – What We Thought

First impressions were good at House of Ho. Arriving at the Fitzrovia townhouse, we were greeted by hostesses in traditional Asian dresses, relieved of our coats and shown to our table on the first floor. A slightly more intimate space than the ground floor it also felt more luxurious with lots of gold, marble and pale green. The whole restaurant definitely had a buzz to it – a lovely atmosphere made up elegant diners and efficient staff serving plate upon plate of beautiful food up numerous flights of slightly wonky stairs to parties in the private dining rooms – the […]
