Drake & Morgan at Kings Cross Review – What We Thought

Who would’ve thought it? It turns out that King’s Cross is full of decent places to eat these days! No longer do you have to suffer a miserable McDonalds or bland Pizza Express if you’re looking to fill your belly before jumping on the train home. The game has changed in recent months as more and more exciting eateries are opening by the day in the new developments that are sprouting up around the station that serves the north of England and Hogwarts. Set between St. Pancras International and Central St. Martins, Drake & Morgan is the newest addition. Fun […]

Relax this Christmas at So Spa

It’s around about now that we all start waning isn’t it? Our schedules are full of nights out, drinks with friends, Christmas parties, manically trying to tie up loose ends up work before the end of the year and doing our Christmas shopping. Suddenly everything feels a little too much and that’s when we succumb to the flu we’ve been holding back all year. What you need then is a little break from it all, a little time for yourself, because we all need to look after numero uno before we can think about spreading the Christmas cheer to others. […]

5 of the Best Scandinavian Restaurants

It was over lunch at Modern Pantry in Finsbury Square that The Handbook’s thoughts turned Scandinavian. The simple forms and clean lines of the recently opened restaurant’s interior – walnut tables, hand-blown lamps – were inspired by head chef Anna Hansen’s familial roots in Denmark, resulting in the Danish-influenced modern style of the dining room. Not only did The Handbook reimagine the design of our home living room… But we thought of the variety of Scandi-spired cuisine available in the capital, especially with Christmas coming up. Here’s our top five restaurants, cafes and bakeries in the capital:

Dirty Bones Soho Review – What We Thought

If you’re a fan of getting down and dirty then read on… Let’s pick our minds up out of the gutter shall we, because of course I’m talking about the second Dirty Bones which has recently opened in the food mecca that is Kingly Court. Found on the top floor, this restaurant is lighter than its Kensington High Street counterpart,  large windows gave us glimpses of the diners inside – you don’t have to reserve, so you might be waiting but with quite a quick turnaround, you can  always grab a drink at the bar whilst you wait. The open […]

As Christmas approaches, it’s time to loosen the belt, get your eating pants on, throw the caution to the wind and ditch the scales because it’s time to feast. We’ve rounded up five of the best Christmas burgers, sandwiches and puddings that you can get your hands on this year for a taste of Christmas in a mouthful.  BIRD  What: Christmas Dinner in a Burger Why: Christmas lunch wouldn’t be complete without attempting to get a little bit of everything into one mouthful, which is no mean feat when you’re eating more than you usually do in a week, tricky. Le Bab To Open

The kebab, the saviour (or hidden demon) of a night out, the food that you go to when you really need a hit of meat and carbs. Well not anymore, just like burgers and hotdogs, the humble kebab is being given a renaissance with the opening of Le Bab in Kingly Court early next year… sorry you do have to wait a bit. The pair behind this revolution are Stephen Tozer and Ed Brunet who discovered a love for wood-fired cooking and charcoal-grilled meat whilst at university. Since then Stephen has been travelling to collect inspiration whilst Ed has been […]

Sartoria Reopens

As we head towards the end of the year, things are starting off for Savile Row’s Sartoria restaurant as they reopen after their refurbishment. Italian chef, Francesco Mazzei (previously L’Anima) is taking up the role of chef patron and his new all-day menu will be inspired by his home region of Calabria and the surrounding area of Italy.  Highlights are said to include Eggs Purgatorio – baked eggs, spicy tomato and n’duja sauce with crostini; Astice Sibaryta – warm lobster salad ‘sybarita’ and  Baccalá marinato alla liquirizia (home-cured baccalá marinated in liquorice.  If you’re looking for sugar slump kick or […]

Voga at Coq D’Argent review – what we thought

Earlier this year we covered the launch of Voga at Coq D’Argent when they began their summer series of classes, well now winter is here and with it comes the festive version of voga. For those of you that don’t know, voga is mash up of traditional yoga and voguing – 80s dance moves with a Madonna feel. The classes take place in the restaurant’s heated terrace which is surprisingly warm given its location. Music is played to give you a beat to work to as dance moves are incorporated to your normal routines, if you’re a hardened yogi you might […]
