Kurobuta Opens in Harvey Nichols

Burger & Lobster, Yo! Sushi and now Kurobuta. Harvey Nichols is welcoming Scott Hallsworth’s Japanese restaurant to their fifth floor, a space no stranger to pop-ups and longer duration residencies. Anyone familiar with Kurobuta already will know why this opening is nothing but great news. Informal dining and great food make it a good option for when you just fancy a guaranteed good meal, and now that they are in Harvey Nichols it will be the perfect stop off for a day of Christmas shopping. This is the third venue for the restaurant, adding to the existing Kings Road and Marble […]

Classic Cocktails Perfected at The Savoy

The idea of a classic anything is that despite people’s best efforts to make it more exciting/more unusual/more modern the original is often very hard to beat. The perfectionists at The Savoy have had this lightbulb moment – why bother messing with the familiarity of everyone’s favourites when you could make them the very best they can be, without the fancy frills. Years of shaking, muddling and stirring culminated in the Fairmont Groups ‘Classics. Perfected’, no more mundane mojitos here. With two of the World’s top 50 bars it’s no surprise that at The Savoy, nothing served is less than […]

Searcys Opens Urban Coterie

Joining London’s group of sky high restaurants is the latest Searcys restaurant, Urban Coterie. In collaboration with Anthony Demetre ( who launched Arbutus and Wild Honey), the restaurant will be opening on the 17th floor of the M by Montcalm hotel in the City.  Heading up the kitchen will be Head Chef Martin Zahumensky (formerly at Texture andHibiscus) who will be serving a menu that will be changing monthly to reflect the changing flavours of seasonal ingredients.  For starters you’ll find the likes of Brixham crab, apple and celeriac and ox tongue with green vegetables, crisp tripe and oyster mayonnaise. NY Fold Review – What We Thought

I’m not ashamed to admit that I love pizza as much as Joey does from Friends. If you’re not a Friends fan, that’s a hell of a lot (and who are you?). I never get bored of it and always fancy it. That’s true love right there isn’t it?  So it was good then that I was asked to go along to NY Fold. Run by Bruno DiFabio, who currently has six world pizza championship titles and ten outstanding pizzerias under his belt, NY Fold is a fusion of his Italian and American roots.  As I walked through the door, […]

Pho & Bun Opens

If you’re into your Vietnamese restaurants, today sees the opening of Pho & Bun on Shaftesbury Avenue, the second restaurant from Andy Le, who previously opened Viet Eat in 2013 in Holborn.  As the name suggests the Vietnamese restaurant will be serving up pho noodle soup and steamed milk buns. However these aren’t just any milk buns oh no, in a London first they’re bringing the east and the west together, two of London’s foodie favourites, burgers and steamed buns. Pretty cool huh? Filled with a 28 day dry aged beef patty the milk bun burger will be served with Viet Eat’s […]

Wazen review – what we thought

Hot on the heels of the newly opened Japanese restaurant, Wazen, we were keen to head down and check it out for ourselves after covering the opening. The restaurant has key location on a corner road with Kings Cross station nearby providing plenty of places to head out after lining your stomach. I am instantly struck by the clean décor which looks distinctly Japanese with the stark wooden chairs and bare hanging light bulbs, I love the edgy look but it doesn’t feel too welcoming at the same time. The venue was worryingly empty when we arrived but luckily Wazen boasts […]

7 Days of American Whiskey at Gaucho

You’ve probably seen the Jack Daniel’s adverts in the tube telling us about Jack, they’re pretty hard to miss, but did you know that Jack sold meat and whiskey from a wagon to fund his first distillery? And did you know that meat and whisky go together like fish and chips, salt and pepper and Ant and Dec? Well Gaucho certainly thinks they do (and so do we, if you’re asking) which is why this week they are hosting a seven day celebration of American whiskey in their restaurants. Starting today there will be events across their London restaurants all […]
