NY Fold Review – What We Thought

I’m not ashamed to admit that I love pizza as much as Joey does from Friends. If you’re not a Friends fan, that’s a hell of a lot (and who are you?). I never get bored of it and always fancy it. That’s true love right there isn’t it?  So it was good then that I was asked to go along to NY Fold. Run by Bruno DiFabio, who currently has six world pizza championship titles and ten outstanding pizzerias under his belt, NY Fold is a fusion of his Italian and American roots.  As I walked through the door, […]

Pho & Bun Opens

If you’re into your Vietnamese restaurants, today sees the opening of Pho & Bun on Shaftesbury Avenue, the second restaurant from Andy Le, who previously opened Viet Eat in 2013 in Holborn.  As the name suggests the Vietnamese restaurant will be serving up pho noodle soup and steamed milk buns. However these aren’t just any milk buns oh no, in a London first they’re bringing the east and the west together, two of London’s foodie favourites, burgers and steamed buns. Pretty cool huh? Filled with a 28 day dry aged beef patty the milk bun burger will be served with Viet Eat’s […]

A Taste of Italy at Bankside

There’s something so appealing about food shopping on holiday. Exploring a little corner of Italy after a morning lazing by the pool, when the heat gets a bit much to handle. Shelves stacked with intriguing jars and boxes, cured meats hanging from the ceiling and overflowing deli counters with bowls of olives, pastries and cheeses. Sadly these things never seem to travel well; cheese plus 32 degree temperatures equals… yeah, not good.  With this in mind it is always exciting to discover a new deli in London, a taste of summer in our own homes. Capricci is a new Italian […]

Lucky Pig Fulham Review – What We Thought

After Eamonn’s raving review back in September, I excitedly headed down to Fulham Broadway to try The Lucky Pig’s new autumn/winter menu. Easy to walk past as it’s in an old Parish Hall building, once inside, first impressions were great; velvet seating, copper bar and dark grey panelling were just to my taste. If I opened a restaurant this is how I’d design it. We sat on the top by the open kitchen on a comfy teal banquette. Crisp white tablecloths and a flickering tea light set the ambience. An empty table either side of us meant we could hear […]

FOLD Opens on Brick Lane

After living in South East Asia, Rachel Filer returned to London and started FOLD catering with Head Chef Frederique Nguyen. That was in 2014, fast forward to now and they are about to open their first restaurant on Brick Lane. Also called FOLD, the new contemporary Vietnamese restaurant will specialise in foldable food and rice paper dishes. It’ll bring the ‘rice paper fold’ to London’s food scene, if it sounds familiar then that’s because they’re also known as summer rolls or if you’re over in America then crystal rolls. The rice paper will be available steamed, grilled, soft or fried […]
