Click to read for answerWith 66 albums, 107 singles and 240 million album sales to their name, The Rolling Stones are recognised as one of, if not the, greatest rock band of all time and next year they are taking up residency at the Saatchi Gallery. Well not them exactly, they aren’t moving in, but what is happening is Exhibitionism, their first international exhibition which will take over the entire two floors and nine thematic galleries. Having taken three years to plan, with the band directly curating the interactive experience. Charting their history which spans over fifty years, there’ll be never seen before memorabilia […]
We don’t like fighting, it’s not really our scene unless, that is, it’s an epic battle, a fight worth our time… in short, a food fight. Not the sort of fight though that you picture happening in school canteens where somewhere throws some chips and then someone lobs a yoghurt back (did that ever really happen?) no we mean the sort where two street food companies go head to head in a cooking battle and we get to decide the winner. The King Co. in Clapham have welcomed in burger connoisseurs Slap & Pickle and Dogtown London, the hot dog […]
We all know pets look like their owners; accompanying the manicured ladies of Wimbledon Village are their equally manicured pets. Whether sitting patiently as they get their hair blow dried or lying under the tables as coffee is sipped, dogs often get as much attention as a child and this includes the fashion department. Jackets, scarves and socks are just the beginning and now it’s nearly Christmas it is entirely acceptable to dress Roxy as Rudolph, Sparky as Santa and Parker as Papa Elf. Pedigree pooch boutique, Pet Pavilion are transforming into a Santa’s Paw grotto for the next few weeks […]
Due to Blueprint Café’s position in the Design Museum we hoped to have a quick culture hit before dinner but the museum was closed by the time we got there. The riverside location is enviable but I think the association with the museum conflicts slightly with what the restaurant is. Located where it is, you may expect a lifeless museum café (as the name also suggests) but that couldn’t be further from the truth – except for maybe the bistro chairs. Floor to ceiling windows, civilised groups of businessmen and extremely professional yet friendly service means Blueprint Café holds its […]
I might be one of the only people to say this, but I’m not such a fan of Winter Wonderland. Too many people, the older I get the worse I seem to get at ice-skating and I’m not a fan of enforced fun, in short, it brings out the Grinch in me, I go from Tiny Tim to Ebenezer Scrooge before he sees all the Christmas ghosts. However, what I do like, are Christmas afternoon teas, even when they are right next to Winter Wonderland. So as I joined the crowds piling out of Hyde Park Corner tube, they trooped […]

Following on from opening The Richmond in Hackney earlier this year, Brett Redman (Elliot’s, Pavilion) is back and with Natalie Lee-Joe, is opening Jidori a Japanese Yakitori restaurant in Dalston. It’ll be bringing Japanese street food of chicken skewers cooked on open oven grills from the streets of Tokyo all the way to east London. Open for lunch and dinner, they’ll be serving a selection of Yakitori skewers using all the parts of the chicken, as well serving up small plates and rice dishes. To keep things as authentic as possible they’re working closely with Nama Yasai the Lewes-based Japanese […]
One of things we love about Christmas is the fact that you can sit and watch films all day and no one can judge you, it’s pretty much in the Christmas guidebook – ‘watch an inordinate amount of films’ . If you can manage to peel yourself off the sofa then head to one of these top winter pop-up cinemas, with gourmet pop-corn, mulled wine, Canada Goose coats and Moncler blankets – these cinemas are truly special and will leave you full of festive cheer.

Tucked away in the streets behind Covent Garden, The Black Penny coffee house is all exposed brick walls, floor boards and dangling light bulbs. A good place to add to your virtual ‘Christmas shopping refuel pit-stop’ list, it’s cosy and welcoming and the food is just what you fancy (french toast, chorizo baked beans, bubble ‘n’ squeak). Named after the Penny Universities/coffee houses that existed back in the 17th century offering thirsty passers by a dose of discussion with their caffeine, The Black Penny’s basement doubles as a seminar pit, bringing true meaning to the term ‘food for thought’. On Thursday […]
Winter isn’t Winter until you’ve layered up 3 pairs of socks, dug out your novelty pom pom beanie and glided onto the rink. If you agree with us that ice skating in London is an essential part of the run-up to Christmas then read on to see our pick of the 6 most festive ice rinks.
It’s Thursday which means it’s basically Friday, which means you can definitely go out for cocktails tonight without feeling guilty (not that you should ever feel guilty, treat yourself 24/7 we say) and we suggest you check out the latest pop-up at the DoubleTree Hilton at Tower Hill. Their rooftop bar SkyLounge has been transformed into The Tree House at SkyLounge, it’s a mystical enchanted woodland right in the centre of London – who needs Narnia now? So long Mr Tumnus. Branches are embellished with twinkling lights to create a magical, intimate atmosphere contrasting with the backdrop of the vast […]
