5 of the Best Places To Eat With Strangers

Ever feel like you’re tired of listening to your friends’ mundane dramas? There’s only so much a person can take of listening to whines about exes, backstabbing besties and the politics of Instagram likes. So why not sack off your friends and dine out on your own? Yes, if someone told us this a while back, we would think they were insane too. But that was before we discovered the trend for ‘communal dining’ in restaurants across London. Cahoots Presents The Underground Supper Club

Post-war London was a thrilling, yet somewhat dangerous place to be in. However, thanks to nostalgic war-themed venues, we can have all the fun of the forties, without any of the danger (they can’t save us from over-friendly drunks though!) Soho’s new underground sensation Cahoots is teaming up with the Basement Galley for an afternoon of fine dining, cocktails and post-war shenanigans. Guests will be transported to a world of scoundrels, underground jazz and a quintessentially British-inspired summer menu. The Underground Supper Club will offer guests a truly immersive dining experience with a menu that features the best of British […]

Bombay Brasserie review – what we thought

I’m surprised that the staff at Gloucester Road station isn’t all on the plump side as the area surrounding it is chock full of fabulous restaurants, including Bombay Brasserie. The high end Indian is a stone’s throw from the tube station which makes it easy to waddle back to after an evening of working through the menu. The restaurant has recently undergone a refurbishment with an updated menu including brunch and the hard work has paid off. We began our evening in the bar area which is low lit and intimate making it ideal for a cheeky cocktail (get in the spicy […]

Urban Edibles Supper Club

We have all heard of dumpster diving and if you ask us, it’s not exactly an activity we would love to try. However, rummaging around for unsold Tesco chicken wraps is not the same thing as some fine-dining foraging. In fact, Urban Edibles are offering a decidedly upmarket new wild food Supper Club, centring on carefully crafted small plates and cocktails created with locally foraged herbs, vegetables and flowers. Now that, we can get on board with! Urban Edibles will be taking place at Ask For Janice, the Modern British All-day restaurant and bar that looks onto Smithfield’s Market. Guests […]

Here at The Handbook, we all love a good cocktail, so when we found out about this Mai Tai Masterclass gracing the London scene, we just knew we had to tell you about it! Trader Vic’s is known worldwide for its famous 1944 Mai Tai cocktail, which boasts rum as a main ingredient and so is the perfect venue for those wishing to learn from the experts! The master class will begin with an introduction to the world of rum. […]

The Notting Gill Chippy Opens

Ok so we might not be near the sea, (the urban beaches haven’t quite mastered that yet) and we might not be on holiday, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t pretend and embrace the summer tradition of fish and chips. It seems like Kensington Place agrees too as they’re launching their first fish and chip pop-up on the 1st August, The Notting Gill Chippy – see what they did there? Opening on Kensington Church Street until the 29th August, charming The Notting Gill Chippy will be serving up Chef Tim Peirson’s take on the fish and chips. So yes […]

Corrigan’s Mayfair – What We Thought

The Handbook recently reviewed Richard Corrigan’s restaurant Bentley’s and as we are all about being inclusive, we decided it was only right that we also reviewed its sister venue, Corrigan’s…nothing to do with the promise of more food, we swear. Corrigan’s is an upmarket venue in Mayfair and I was excited to return to the venue after not having eaten there for a while. It is safe to say that I was not disappointed and left feeling impressed and oh so full. Richard Corrigan is a renowned and multi-award winning chef who has been cooking since he was a youngster.
