Butler’s Wharf Chophouse

It was so romantic here I would’ve proposed if I wasn’t with my Mother. The dim lights and views of London Bridge made my heart swoon in a way that no man ever has. For a second I considered proposing to myself but then realised that society just wasn’t ready for this. They’ve barely cottoned onto the whole gay marriage thing. Idiots. The staff were fantastic here. Our waiter was from Egypt and should’ve been in comedy. This man here knew the craic. He was more of a banter tender than a bartender…round of applause? It was a delight to […]

Inn The Park

From the outside it looked like some sort of mutant beaver on steroids had taken up home here. From the inside it looked like sea world – after Free Willy had died that is. The bathrooms were especially prominent in this style of decor, if you can call it style at all. Upon arrival we met the hostess, swapped the usual boring pleasantries and were shown to our royal blue seats. Unimpressed with the exterior but relaxed and calm from the ducks in the park we set to order. The menu was pricey so we were expecting something extraordinary. Drinks […]

Masterclass With A Difference at Hampstead Kitchen

Summer is coming up so we’d need to get on the mezze and of the cake to beautify our figures. Which is perfect because The Hampstead Kitchen are hosting an informal mezze masterclass on how to create and present mezze to impress your family and friends.  So to be known in your circle as the Queen of Mezze get some tips from head chef and executive Saima who frequently flies across the globe to cook for celebrities, politicians and heads of state. Montezuma: Kensington’s New Club

‘It’s not like walking on to the set of Indiana Jones, don’t worry’ we were reassured when we heard that the latest club to open in Kensington, Montezuma, had an Aztec-esque interior. In fact it is far from it, picture a modern interior with lots of black, gold and marble, it’s sleek, polished and sophisticated. The concept of Montezuma is simple, they want to inject the London club scene with a little bit of luxury and glamour and for it to be the ultimate VIP cocktail bar and club.  Of course there’ll be plenty of dancing with a heavy emphasis […]

Joe’s Southern Kitchen Review

Joe’s Southern Kitchen has just extended its Creole inspired food from Covent Garden to a new venue location in Kentish Town, North London. It seems like an unusual area choice as on first appearance it comes across quite derelict, although it has been described as an up and coming town so maybe not all hope is lost. Once inside Joe’s though it’s a totally different story with the brand spanking new décor taking its inspiration from the deep south of the US with red leather booths, a wooden bar and exposed bricks. There are not enough restaurants like this in […]

The Innocent Smoothie Festival

Come the second Bank Holiday weekend in May we’ll be hitting innocent unplugged, a free, off-grid festival in a secret magical forest location free from, gulp, social media and WiFi. Heck there isn’t even any traditional electricity. But don’t worry, a silent festival wouldn’t be much fun so all power will be generated by solar power or people power (pedals to giant hamster wheels in case you’re wondering). Expect great music from headline acts such as The Correspondents and Norman Jay, lycra-legged dance-offs with old school classic Mr. Motivator, inspiring speakers like Kids Company founder Camila Batmanghelidjh, Liberty London Girl […]

Basement Sate

Sometimes you get bars that try to be cool and sometimes you get bars that just are cool. Basement Sate definitely belongs to the latter. Their new chef Kelly Nadiarian has recently launched a unique menu which includes cocktails such as Turtle Avenue (dark & white rum, spiced pineapple syrup, coconut water) and Thunder Cloud (tequila, aperol, blueberry vinegar, lemonade). The winner of the trio definitely has to be the Jessica Rabbit (gin, golden syrup, elderflower, carrot juice). An original and playful combination –  which is commendable but the fact that this cocktail tastes as good as it sounds made […]

5 Things To Do This St George’s Day

St George’s day is an annual celebration of all things brilliant about England. It’s a day where we celebrate our ridiculous levels of politeness, our masterful use of passive aggression and our ability to slay fiery dragons…well, at least a certain saint’s ability to do that. Check out our list of the top five things to do on St George’s Day… Drinks at The Crown and Sceptre: […]
