7 of London’s Best Sweet Shops

Sweets are a staple favourite of everyone’s ‘treat’ diet, as they remind us of our childhood, a much simpler time when ugly words like ‘taxes’ and ‘wrinkles’ didn’t exist. So it’s no surprise that sweets excite adults, just as much as they do a sugar-craving five year old. Plus, let it be known that we would happily push said five year old out of the way if they were about to get their hands on the last fizzy cola bottle (don’t judge, you know you would do the same). Why not give into your confectionary cravings and check out our list of London’s best sweetshops below…  Cybercandy […]

The Richmond: style & substance in Hackney

New to the Dalston scene is the Richmond, a former and slightly frightening Egyptian themed venue complete with inside tree-houses… Anyway, all that’s been done away with and replaced with a quietly chic neighbourhood vibe thanks to interior decorator and antiques dealer Adam Bray. Duo behind the new venture are long-time pals, Aussie chef Brett Redman of Borough Market’s Elliot’s fame and Margaret Crow, stylist for the likes of i-D and Love magazine. Dishes are built around oysters, comfort food, and a raw bar serving a dizzying variety of oysters, clams and a rotating selection of carpaccios and tartars with […]

Floridita London Launches Puerto Floridita

Here at The Handbook, we love a summer pop up. For us, they encompass everything that is British summertime – a big fun, quirky party, but one that is tragically fleeting and ends way before we want it to. The iconic late-night Soho venue Floridita is the latest London venue to offer a pop-up, inviting guests to get channel their inner Ariel and set sail with their new nautical summer pop up, Puerto Floridita. Floridita’s ‘deck’ (expect many nautical puns) will allow its shipmates to sit back, relax and enjoy cooling cocktails or dance on deck to the backdrop of […]

Butler’s Wharf Chophouse

It was so romantic here I would’ve proposed if I wasn’t with my Mother. The dim lights and views of London Bridge made my heart swoon in a way that no man ever has. For a second I considered proposing to myself but then realised that society just wasn’t ready for this. They’ve barely cottoned onto the whole gay marriage thing. Idiots. The staff were fantastic here. Our waiter was from Egypt and should’ve been in comedy. This man here knew the craic. He was more of a banter tender than a bartender…round of applause? It was a delight to […]

Deliveroo Dinner Parties

There is nothing better than the feeling you get when someone else orders takeaway – because if someone else suggests it, then it’s technically guilt- free* but there is nothing more disappointing then when your delivery arrives and it’s bland/greasy/cold/fluorescent from all the preservatives (delete as applicable).  Well stop right there, because Deliveroo is the answer to this classic Sunday night problem. Having launched two years ago, their aim is to bring London’s best restaurants to your doorstop or your office desk (they deliver between noon and 11pm) so if you’re bored for lunch or really want to try the […]

London’s Healthiest Restaurant Opens

Good Life Eatery: it’s the thing that clean-eating, healthy-living, Instagram- taking dreams are made of and following on from the success of the first Chelsea branch, the team are back with the second café opening in Marylebone. Created by Yasmine Larizadeh and Shirin Kouros, Good Life Eatery is all about fast, casual and healthy dining – it’s the sort of place where you can gorge yourself silly and still walk out guilt-free (although when it comes to food we all know that you should never really feel guilty). It’s the sort of place where you could probably inhale your five […]

Inn The Park

From the outside it looked like some sort of mutant beaver on steroids had taken up home here. From the inside it looked like sea world – after Free Willy had died that is. The bathrooms were especially prominent in this style of decor, if you can call it style at all. Upon arrival we met the hostess, swapped the usual boring pleasantries and were shown to our royal blue seats. Unimpressed with the exterior but relaxed and calm from the ducks in the park we set to order. The menu was pricey so we were expecting something extraordinary. Drinks […]

Ambam hits London!

If you’ve had enough of Facebook, have never used Google+ (because let’s be honest, who has?) and feel like Instagram is no longer fulfilling your foodie needs, then we have a great new social media for you to try! Ambam is the first ever social network exclusively for London dwellers and its aim is to connect folk across the land of London through their common interests (other than Game of Thrones) and also give them some cool rewards along the way. Personally, we never say no to a freebie, however,  Ambam’s treats look far cooler than a personalised rubber stamp […]
