‘All loved up’ Afternoon tea review

The most romantic month of the year has begun, depending on your perspective and relationship status of course, so what better time to launch an ‘All Loved Up’ afternoon tea? Skylounge has created a delicious, creamy offering that celebrates all things heart shaped and love related that will leave even the most-staunch Valentine’s opposer feeling sweet. The best of the savoury ‘Aphrodisiac sandwiches’ was the Bruschetta and the Parma ham on white baguette thanks to the dreamy garlic butter it came served with. The emphasis here for good food is all on the sweet section though, with dense fudgey ‘He […]

Squirrels Take Over The Cinnamon Club

They might have missed Squirrel Appreciation Day (yep, that happened – 21st January apparently) but The Cinnamon Club are making up for it by putting Rajasthani-spiced grey squirrel on their menu from 9th-21st February. To coincide with his appearance on Jimmy & Jamie’s Friday Night Feast, head chef Rakesh Ravindran Nair is throwing caution to the wind and risking his reputation as a top chef at London’s best curry house by serving the unusual animal to daring diners. The Rajasthani rodent will have his (or her) legs and shoulders marinated with coriander, cloves, garlic, chilli and pineapple juice and then […]

Look, No Butter Supper Club

Peyton and Byrne’s first supper club of 2015 was billed as ‘a health focused dining experience’ and, while we appreciated a helping hand in our January detox, if we’re being honest we were a bit dubious about the concept of a healthy dinner party. Surely each is the antichrist of the other? But we were to be proven wrong. Creative chef Emma Duggan had done wonders with seasonal ingredients and managed to whip up an imaginative (and filling!) five course menu, featuring a lot of vegetables alongside Cornish mackerel and beautifully tender venison casserole, so it was far from rabbit […]

A Dog Opens A Restaurant

We follow them on Twitter, look at their photos on Instagram, like them more than most of our friends, get overly emotional when they do something adorable/funny/brave and now we drink at their bars.  No we’re not talking about celebrities, we’re talking about dogs. That’s right, a bar with a dog at its helm. Well ok maybe that’s a slight exaggeration, he isn’t actually pouring the drinks – we hear it’s the lack of opposable thumbs, but he has given his name to the venture and his seal of approval. Meet Teddy the Chow Chow and his new cocktail bar […]

The Cocktail Trading Company’s New Bar

The first thing I thought when I stepped into The Cocktail Trading Co’s Development Bar and Table is that it reminded me of an old library mixed with a gentlemen’s club just with a good dose of cocktails and a soundtrack of Prince and Cyndi Lauper- if only libraries really were like that I’m sure they’d be an increase in attendance…government take not, but I digress. Dark wooden-panelled walls were decorated with black and white photos and prints of cocktails; shelves were stacked with books and bottles, whilst Winston Churchill looked down from his large portrait overseeing the bar. They seem […]
