Golden Tickets and Christmas Cheer at Aqua

Whilst we would normally urge our readers to avoid Oxford Street at all costs over the Christmas period, we might have found something that might just tempt us there, all thanks to aqua London, who have put on a delightful Christmas spread this year. Yes, if you are feeling a little bit of shopping fatigue, make sure that you gain your energy by heading to aqua kyoto, where you can enjoy their Festive Fuel menu. The menu has been especially designed for those of us feeling a little bit nervous when it comes to the shops, and it will certainly […]

The Return of The Grill at The Dorchester

If you can think way back to May you may remember that  The Grill at The Dorchester shut its doors to give it a complete refurbishment – that’s the interior, menu and team. Fast forward a few months and there is a new young team with Alain Ducasse’s protégé Christophe Marleix at the helm and a new look created by Bruno Moinard. What’s he created is a timeless, sumptuous restaurant; it’s almost like sitting inside a copper teapot – if you can imagine, a mix of bronze, zinc, mirrors, copper and butterscotch leather chairs and a rather marvellous chandelier. On […]

Openings & Launches

BRGR.CO Chelsea

Forget those ‘golden arches’, SW3 has just acquired an altogether superior burger joint with the opening of BRGR.CO on King’s Road this week where a dedicated team of Brgrologists, Lettuce Analysts and Grill Sergeants are already hard at work. Hand-made each morning using the best cuts of 28-day-aged beef from the very posh Duke of Buccleuch Estate in South West Scotland, burger snobs can bite into three classic choices: 4oz, 6oz and 8oz – served deconstructed allowing them to build the burgers as they so desire with side orders featuring Parmesan truffle fries (just don’t call them chips), made with […]

Our Guide to… Christmas Afternoon Tea

It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and whilst we are all very excited about the most wonderful time of the year, it can sometimes be a little bit of a nightmare. Well, never fear, there is nothing better than an afternoon tea to settle those nerves. Combine this with a Christmas theme and it won’t be long until you are feeling the spirit. From edible snowman to cake pop baubles, […]

Tequila, Tequila, Tequila

Make sure to grab your lemon and salt and head straight to Town Hall Hotel in Bethnal Green from the 9th, where as an ode to the season Tequila Patrón will be hosting the Bah Humbug party celebrating the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future. Whilst there won’t be any Scrooges in attendance you will be treated to three Christmas parties in one, with the night taking on an immersive trail of tequila splendour, inspired by Dickens’ famous novel. WHAM’s Last Christmas will definitely be on the cards, with the start of the evening celebrating everything that is the […]

Fraq’s Lobster Shack

The American East Coast arrived in Goodge Street this week with the launch of Fraq’s Lobster Shack specialising in Maine lobster and seafood rolls with all the trimmings. Founders, brothers Andrea and Alberto Fraquelli have the restaurant business pumping through their veins as their Grandfather, Lorenzo, founded Spaghetti House back in 1955 while dad, Stefano, runs the Metropolitan restaurant group where his sons cut their culinary teeth. The menu is short and sweet and features posh seafood rolls such as The Boston Roll – brioche packed full of Maine lobster meat, lemony mayo, spring onion, cos lettuce and finely sliced […]

Bayou’s Blues Brunch

This weekend saw creole bar and restaurant, Bayou, launch its new Blues Brunch; it’s live music and a whole lot of soul food, which was just what we needed when the heavens decided to open and the whole of London was absolutely drenched. Just off Camden High Street, Bayou sits on Iverness Street, hidden behind the market stalls. It’s a strange little place, it’s quite basic, plain wooden tables and chairs and a bar running down one side, but nothing that stood out – apart from the loo walls which were painted with leaves and branches, there were also swamp […]
