Athenaeum launches Cocktail Catwalk Collection

If you ever needed an excuse to visit the elegant 5 star Athenaeum Hotel on Park Lane, the launch of their Cocktail Catwalk Collection must surely be it. In a nod to September’s London Fashion Week SS15, the bar team has created 5 new cocktails with inspiration taken from the patterns, colours and combinations of style that they saw on the catwalk. All of the drinks are served in martini glasses except for my favourite; The Barbara Casasola, a refreshing mix of Cachaça, Martini Bianco, Lime Juice, Sugar, pineapple Juice and Rosemary. All of the drinks should be enjoyed in […]

Valentina Fine Foods Review

Valentina Fine Foods is a series of Italian restaurants and delis that has recently launched a new branch in Chiswick, we headed down to check it out. From the street Valentina Fine Foods looks like a café and deli with all kinds of authentic produce lining the walls, it’s only after walking in that you realise a smart restaurant sits at the back. Even further back is the open plan kitchen which serves classic Italian dishes, check your table for the list of changing specials which aren’t on the menu. The specials when we went were Mussels to start, served […]

The Cavendish

Marylebone: home to Sherlock Holmes, A- list celebrities and now a brand new contemporary European restaurant, The Cavendish. The restaurant which opens its door this week, houses a 1940s gentleman clubs interior designed by the team behind Tom’s Kitchen, The Botanist and Copita.   The new restaurant doesn’t just look the part, the food is also set to live up to expectations and with Alfonso Lillo Fas heading it up this is no surprise. For all those that don’t already know, Fas was trained at El Bulli and was also a finalist on the Spanish equivalent of Masterchef. There will […]

Spice Market, Sushi Bar Review

Almost equidistant from the tourist hot spots that are Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus and located just seconds away from the bright lights of Chinatown, lies Spice Market. Having heard it described as an upmarket South Asian restaurant, walking into the establishment, it certainly seemed to fit the bill. Furnished in a dark wood with golden low lighting, the interior appears to glow and the multitude of glass and mirrored surfaces adds to the twinkling effect. It was busy, especially so for a Wednesday night, with a number of diners and a few drinking parties enjoying the music played by […]

The Little Yellow Door

Let’s be honest, as much as we love a good night out, it is pretty difficult to top a great house party. There is just something about these wild affairs that you wouldn’t find on your average night out and whilst the flat party we have in mind is probably more Made in Chelsea than Skins, that does not reduce it standing as a great affair. For this reason alone, we were delighted to hear about The Little Yellow Door, a party pop-up that is descending onto Notting Hill Gate promising weekly dinners and drinks that will be difficult to […]

And now the most well-travelled and adventurous bear, Paddington is back and taking to the big screen with his very first film released on 28th November and to celebrate this Aqua Shard has created the Paddington Afternoon Tea. Head chef Anthony Garlando has used both London and Peruvian influences to create the special tea which is served Monday to Friday, so expect London taxis cakes flavoured with chilli and chocolate, a Victorian sponge Battenburg and Paddington praline cream bun. Of course […]
