400 Rabbits Opens

What do the Aztecs have to do with a new restaurant opening in Crystal Palace? Well 3 things; beer, pizza and rabbits. Confused? Let us explain. Opening this month, is 400 Rabbits a restaurant serving up beer and pizza and from the same team behind the much loved The Lido Café. Now back in the day when the Aztecs were  around (so a long way back in the day) they use to worship the God of Fermentation and the Goddess of Alcohol – our thoughts exactly pretty cool huh? Anyway the God and Goddess got together and the product of […]

M Restaurant review – what we thought

Like Madonna we are always on board with a reinvention and another iconic M, M Restaurant agrees as they have just launched their new summer RAW menu with lighter treats to keep you going in the hot months. Taking inspiration from 6 countries including Japan and Australia, the emphasis here is on meat and fish even on the RAW side of the restaurant. M Restaurant is a fantastic venue space, balancing a relaxed atmosphere with an up market vibe well. Split into the Grill dining area on the left and Raw on the right, the upstairs hosts the cocktail bar, […]

Kansas Smitty’s Underground Jazz Tour

If your idea of going out in London to experience some live music leads you to drunkenly screaming Aretha Franklin out at 2am in a backstreet cocktail bar…well then we have a better suggestion for you. After taking East London by storm with their hugely successful Jazz and Julep bar on Broadway Market, Kansas Smitty’s House Band is touring London’s Basement Bars to mark the launch of their debut record. The Basement Tapes Tour, taking place from 23rd September-24th November 2015, will travel round […]

Jago Review – What We Thought

The other day finding ourselves on the hunt for supper in the Commercial Street area we decided not to be lured into the curry houses with promises of more than we could eat and drink for a mere fiver (not a good look on a Tuesday) and instead we wandered up Hanbury Street to Jago. Jago is the work of Louis Solley (former head chef at Ottolenghi), Hugo Thurston and Vinny Burke and is said to be bringing a taste of the Ashkenazi Jewish cuisine back to London with Middle Eastern and Mediterranean influences. Of course East London still has […]

Courthouse Hotel Launches Cosy Soho Ski Terrace

Summer is sadly and obviously over and headlines about an Indian summer are cruel and misleading, so let’s just accept our fate and look forward to things that make winter our real favourite season anyway. The historical Courthouse Hotel is on the same brainwave as us as they have announced their new Soho Ski Terrace (formerly the Soho Sky Terrace) will launch in October in their summer rooftop space. The theme will be iconic retro ski chalets of the 1950’s filled with snuggly blankets and plush furniture to keep the winter chills at bay whilst soaking up the skyline view […]

Chambord’s Cocktail and Croquet Pop-Up

By now you must know that 2015 marks the 150th anniversary of Alice in Wonderland, if you didn’t you really need to get out and about in London/read more and whilst everyone always talks about Alice, the White Rabbit and the Mad Hatter, sometimes the Queen of Hearts gets forgotten about. Yes ok she has anger issues and yes ok she is a bit of a threat to Alice, but she does love a good game of croquet – even if the balls are hedgehogs and the mallets are flamingos. So to celebrate the anniversary, Chambord are hosting they’re own […]

Bristol Restaurant Poco Opens in London

This week sees the opening of Poco, the Bristol based restaurant which is now opening its restaurant in Broadway Market in Hackney. Run by Tom Hunt, Ben Pryor and Jen Best, Poco centres around, 100% seasonal, locally sourced, sustainable ingredients and tapas- a fine partnership. Their ingredients are really locally sourced too, none of this ‘sourced locally’ and then you find it just means it’s from England, not here, instead ingredients will come from the likes of Dagenham Community Farm and Kappacasein Dairy in Bermondsey. When ingredients do have to be sourced from abroad and that’s only 10% anyway, they’re […]
