Valentine Warner Pops up at New Tom’s

Calling all food fans, acclaimed chef Valentine Warner will be hosting an unmissable one-off dining event on 23rd July at the new Notting Hill pop-up from Tom Conran, New Tom’s. You might recognise Valentine from his hit TV series, What To Eat Now, on BBC Two. He went on to lead to a further TV series and two accompanying books which led to him being dubbed the Russell Brand of cooking – which is a good thing, we think. Valentine will give a quick talk about the preparation and cooking of the menu before serving up a delicious 4 course […]

Bentley’s Review

Bentley’s, on Swallow Street, is situated in a historic Victorian building on the borders of Soho and Mayfair. The restaurant came to life in 2005, when it was taken over by talented chef and restaurateur Richard Corrigan. He refurbished the venue to its former glory, making the building one of the oldest and most prestigious seafood restaurants in London today. Their passion and skill for seafood is clear as soon as you taste the food; our favourite was the Bentley Lobster which was full of flavour and a definite recommendation. A close second were the delicious oysters, but if you […]

Cubitt House Alfresco

Starting tomorrow is the first ever Grosvenor Film Festival hosted by The Nomad Cinema. With four dates, 10th, 11th, 17th and 18th July, they’ll be showing classic films such as Goldfinger and When Harry Met Sally. So as not to disturb the neighbours it will be a silent cinema with wi-fi headsets, we’re guessing that means you can control the volume, so won’t have to listen to any loud popcorn eaters. It’s not just the cinema we’re excited for though, the Cubitt House will also be there (they’re the guys behind pubs such as The Orange and The Grazing Goat) serving […]

Veuve Clicquot on the Road

So what do Champagne, polo, a Dior beauty pop-up and yellow wellies have in common? They are all part of the Veuve Clicquot VIP experience at this year’s Polo Gold Cup Final at Cowdray Park. You won’t just get there by any  means, oh no you’ll arrive via private Veuve shuttle sipping Yellow Label en route, before quaffing  more Champagne served from a 1946 air stream and feasting on the contents of  luxury hampers from Mount Street Deli and Scott’s – though you can also slum it with a burger, a  J. Sheekey’s rock-shrimp and scallop burger that is, even slumming […]

The Bump Caves

Charlie McVeigh of Draft House fame is launching dive bar and distillery, The Bump Caves tomorrow on Tower Bridge Road which promises to 'breach the limits of flavour, aroma, sound, texture and vision'. The team has been inspired by the late-60s psychedelic movement, and the bar is based on one of the eras ‘Happenings’ or underground parties and all the dubious paraphernalia that went with them. Max Chater, aka the Bump Chemist, Distiller and Rectifier will distill his own spirits (the ‘bumps’) using a mixture of culinary and pharmaceutical equipment such as the rotary evaporator (with all good science geeks […]

Paradise Review

It is rarely that you come across a restaurant that delivers whole-heartedly, but luckily for us Paradise by way of Kensal Green is one of those places. From charming and friendly staff to delicious good and varied and creative cocktails, Paradise is a real winner, heck even the décor had us impressed with its shabby, chic design. After having perused many, many a menu seeing a Cherry and Nectarine Salad as a starter was an unexpected surprise which impelled us to try it. It stood its ground as an enjoyable dish with perfectly ripened fruit, baby spinach, peanuts and an […]

Champagne Summer Pop Up in the Square

Yesterday the Luggage Room stepped outside with its punch pop up bar at Summer in the Square and they have alcoholic lollipops. That’s right the opulent speakeasy-style bar is packing up its bags, venturing out of the Grosvenor hotel and emerging from the secret door it lies behind and heading to Grosvenor Square. With a little help from their friends at Appleton V/X, Perrier-Jouët, Pernod Ricard UK, Pierre Ferrand Cognac and Berry Bros. & Rudd they’ll be serving up classic punches and cups, Champagne sorbets (yes it is a gift from the gods!) and those lollipops, forget after work cocktails […]
