Simmons Bar Review

For those in search of a brilliant Happy Hour offer or a slightly kookier bar in the Mornington Crescent or Camden area then look no further than Simmons Bar. Having opened at the end of last year, the interior is a mix of your Grandma’s sitting room – the chintzy wallpaper, the lamps mix matched crockery, the teapots that the drinks arrive in, and the flying ducks across the walls – crossed with a branch of Urban Outfitters – Simmons Bar is home to the largest skull shaped disco ball (we were in love) and also has a SNES console […]

FISHBone Pop – Up Review

Over in Notting Hill, Kensington Place have just launched a new two- month pop up – #FISHBone and never wanting to miss out, The Handbook braved the wind and rain to check it out. Unlike the rest of the restaurant, the pop up (which is in a little room at the back) is much more stripped back and informal, dark blue tones and candles teamed with neon signs and long trestle tables to give an atmosphere of part American diner and part nautical restaurant.  The menu is simple, a few main dishes, a couple of smaller extras and sides – […]

Sassafras’ New Orleans Weekender

We think Mark Twain put it best when he said ‘New Orleans food is as delicious as the less criminal forms of sin’, so make sure to get sinful at Dalston Pond which Sassafras has transformed to bring the indominatable spirit of New Orleans all the way to London. Kicking off on Thursday 20th with a photography exhibition of New Orleans and Louisiana since the 70s, the weekend will follow on until the Sunday where there will be supper clubs, an open bar and New Orleans music until the early hours. In a location that is less fuss and more […]
