The Handbook is spreading its wings, branching out, seizing the day and bringing London something a little bit new. Let us introduce to you The Earlybird. With the constantly updating stream of Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest on your phone, you’ve got information overload before you’ve even decided what coffee to order. Or whether that blueberry muffin actually counts towards your five-a-day.… (fyi as long as it's at least been waved at a blueberry then it definitely does.) At The Earlybird, however, we promise to keep it simple. We’ll bring you the ONE cool thing you need to know every […]

Summer, whatever the weather at The Glasshouse

We may be basking in the sun at the moment, hems are getting shorter- which may or may not be a good thing and the time that it is acceptable to have a gin and tonic is getting earlier – always a good thing, but as we all know British summertime is a variable little thing  and often likes to fool us into a heatwave before bringing the downpours. Which is why  Soho pan-Indian restaurant, Carom, have recently launched The Glasshouse. A solarium-inspired space, it’s a little escape into tropical temperatures, a constant summer – whatever the weather is outside. […]

Kitchenette: Review

Since having opened in Istabul in 2005, the Turkish café, bar and brasserie, Kitchenette, has gone from strength to strength with a total of 24 being opened well across the borders into Baku, St Petersburg and last November it came to Putney. Situated on Putney Bridge Road, the 80 seat café and bar is light and airy with earthy, natural colours reflecting its Istanbul roots.  Seeing as the sun was shining though, we took to the terrace outside, ordered two spicy Bloody Marys and perused the all-day dining menu. Their approach is traditional Turkish cooking with a modern Istanbul inspired […]

Pescatori: Review

Been to Pescatori? No? Well you should. There are two restaurants one in Mayfair and one in Fitzrovia and it was the latter that we visited on a Wednesday night, because it was midweek and everyone needs a midweek pick me up. Fact.  From the street, the restaurant was inviting with twinkling lights dotting the terrace and inside it was kept simple with white washed walls, curved arches and a mix of intimate booths and long tables. If they were going for a family run tavern meets London restaurant feel then they’ve succeeded. It was relaxed and informal – even […]

ABASTO

Everyone’s a chef now right? Especially the denizens of Connaught Village. But these days the discerning gastronome wouldn’t dream of being caught shopping in Waitrose. However, with tight budgets we can’t all afford to charter a private jet by way of Buenos Aires to pick up an Argentinian joint… Don’t worry though. This month Diego Jacquet of local restaurant Casa Malevo is opening an Argentine Butcher and Wine Merchant next door. Abasto is named after the famous fruit and vegetable market in Buenos Aires and will incorporate a butcher, retail element; small dining area and ‘Diego’s office’ which will host […]
