Muriel’s Kitchen Leicester Square Review

This week, The Handbook headed down to Leicester Square to try out the new(ish) branch of Muriel’s Kitchen. Situated on Leicester Square, next to the Empire cinema, it is in prime location for tourists, theatre-goers and commuters on their way home from work. On entering, we were amazed at how big the restaurant is. The floor space is vast, but because of cleverly positioned pillars, mirrors and walls, it doesn’t feel cantine-like – instead, each table feels private and cosy. The colour scheme is muted pastels, and the atmosphere was very comfortable, unpretentious and welcoming with pretty little plants on […]

The Super Tuscan Restaurant Review

The Handbook headed over to Spitalfields for a little supper on a dark and blustery Monday night. The restaurant? Enoteca Super Tuscan down the winding alley, Artillery Passage. Why? Well 1) we had heard great things 2) they are about to join the whole of Italy to celebrate the country’s truffle and porcini season and being lovers of truffle we had to go down and try some of the dishes. We arrived to find the small intimate restaurant, a mix of booths, small tables and bar stools, was busy for a Monday and yet the atmosphere was relaxed and quiet. […]

We’re looking forward to Spring 2014 for two reasons: firstly, it might get warm enough that we don’t have to wrap up like we’re in the arctic each morning, and secondly, Simon Rogan is due to take the helm at Claridge’s new restaurant! Simon Rogan, with his two Michelin stars at flagship restaurant L’Enclume, which was named as ‘Restaurant of the Year’ at the 2013 Observer Food Monthly Awards and as ‘Best Restaurant in the UK’ by the Good Food Guide 2014, is an exciting new addition to Claridge’s and to London. Rogan plans to use fresh ingredients, which he […]

Important news: there is a new afternoon tea in town.  Last week saw the launch of Aqua’s afternoon tea, which gives the English tradition even more of a British feel.
