The Bingham: Review

It is very rare that you go to a restaurant and come away with nothing to fault. There is normally always something wrong or not quite to your liking: the lighting isn’t quite right, the service isn’t up to the scratch and the food is a little bland. Alas I am yet to find a restaurant which is faultless, but I have found one pretty darn close and it is the restaurant at The Bingham in Richmond. Having escaped the cold and arriving with soaked feet from the mini lagoons that were covering the pavements we were given a warm […]

Chakana

The name means ‘tree of life’ and the venue itself is reminiscent of an ancient Incan temple filled with mystic treasures – think intricate carvings of the snake serpent, puma and condor sitting alongside depictions of the Chakana itself and a display of skulls lit eerily from within like a celebration of ancestral spirits. The décor is all rich golds, reds and oranges […]

Snowflake Luxury Gelato: Review

Last night having found ourselves in Soho, The Handbook decided to defy the cold weather and head to Snowflake for gelato. Having opened at the end of September it is the second boutique, the first having opened in Bayswater. It was all very sleek, minimal with white walls, counters and tables but the splashes of pink stopped it from being hostile or sterile. There were a few high tables, a bar and booths, so if you are like we were and can’t handle the cold outside there is space to sit and indulge. Before you panic and ask ‘why do […]

The Bull Hotel Review

The Bull in Wrotham, Kent, is a hotel, restaurant and bar that has been around for over six hundred years. It has undergone extensive work to restore its former 14th century glory including exposing the oak beams, the inglenook fireplace and even the war time victory stamps on the ceiling of the restaurant. The hotel may look quaint but guests can still enjoy 21st century perks like free Wi-Fi and TVs in the rooms. The hallways are the last on the list of the hotel to need refurbishing before they meet the standards of the rooms. The room we stayed […]
