These are the things we dream about every day in our daily jobs, as the minutes tick away; life of adventure, scandal and debauchery. After all, everyone needs to be arrested at some point in their lives. What else would you tell the grandchildren?  Lucky for you we have the perfect destination for all your imaginative planning (maybe you’ll give us a cut of that bank robbery?). Spring Grove review

What: Pub with a homely not dated feel and great summer garden Where: Kingston (zone 6 – The Handbook gets around) Why you should go there: If you ever find yourself in these neck of the woods and are unsure where to eat Favourite thing we had: Beetroot, chick pea and fennel burger – more exciting than it sounds I am a notorious pub hater, they remind me of the days you could smoke inside and the roaring sounds of football games but every so often you come across a pub that has done its best to shed the old man feel and […]

Ice & Slice’s Alcoholic Gelato

One of the best things about summer is ice cream. In the winter, ice cream is eaten when you’re crying on the sofa watching The Notebook. But in summer, ice cream is enjoyed while you soak up the sun and show off the great results of those endless spinning classes. Add alcohol in to the mix and you’ve pretty much got the perfect summertime combination. This is exactly what Ice & Slice by Shot are doing, with the launch of their brand-new ice cream ‘bar’, featuring alcoholic gelato.  Flavours will include Prosecco, Negroni and Aperol Spritz. These new flavours are […]

Last night saw the launch of London’s newest art gallery and member’s lounge, Lights of Soho, which as you can guess is in the capital’s most creative district; Soho. Founded by Dudley Nevill – Spencer, Hamish Jenkinson and Johnny Grant, the club will be a cultural hub for Soho’s most creative and imaginative as well as displaying neon and light formats.  In the gallery you’ll find works from Tracey Emin, the late Chris Bracey and up and coming artists such as Josef O’Connor. They’re also going to have an online art shop too, making neon signs more affordable, so we can […]

Halva Bakery Opens in Fulham

Wander down Fulham Road (or get the bus because it’s ridiculously long) and you’ll find a whole host of bakeries: Gail’s, Paul (apparently names work well for a bakery) and Maison Blanc to name a few and soon there will be another addition to the bakery scene in the form of Halva bakery which opens this June. Owned by Lila Sarhang Zadeh a classically trained pastry chef, the contemporary bakery will be the perfect place to get your carb fix whether it’s breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea.  You can grab a coffee and a pain au chocolate or if you’re being […]

Chapters From Bourne And Hollingsworth

We do love a good glass of Champagne on a night out. But copious amounts of alcohol doesn’t come without its problems – excessive calorie intake and memory loss to name a few. We do realise we’re not getting any younger and we like to keep all the knowledge we have curtailed over the years.  Bourne and Hollingsworth have come up with the perfect solution for this as they are introducing a series of new summer events labelled the B&H Handbook.   Fear not folks, this is not an actual book but it is a series informal and interactive sessions which involve a spirit, drink or […]

Vietnamese Street Food Store Opens

Back in 2012 Paul Hopper travelled across Vietnam trying out the different cuisines and flavours found across the country, fast forward three years and the ex-city worker is about to launch HOP an express Vietnamese street food service. Situated in Square Mile, HOP, will employ the Vietnam concept of ‘Com Binh Dan’ which if you aren’t sure, means ‘working people food’, it’s going to be fast, fresh and the perfect pit stop in your busy working day.  For those who didn’t know, hop is the Vietnamese word for box (no, it isn’t a shortened version of Paul’s surname, although it […]

The Terrace At Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel Review

What: The Terrace at Jumeirah Lowndes HotelWhere: BelgraviaWhy you should go there: For a relaxing afternoonFavourite thing we ate: The sirloin steak We all like BBQ’s but the worst thing is that is that you actually have to cook it yourself. There’s always the possibility of letting someone else do it but that never works out either. Mainly because our grilled chicken wings don’t look like the promise of Instagram and if you hand it over to the males they don’t look like the promise of Zac Efron and his juicy steak in Neighbours. Reality hurts. That’s why it’s better to leave it […]
