Wildflower Café Review

After an exhausting weekend of battling the crowds in an attempt to get some Christmas shopping done, we nipped over to the newly opened Wildflower Café in Notting Hill for some Sunday afternoon tea and cake – as you do. We collapsed into some chairs in the shabby-chic café and were swiftly brought a comforting cup of tea and hot buttered toast with strawberry jam. Feeling revived and ready to devour some homemade cake, we opted for the chocolate fudge and pear and carrot and walnut varieties, and we were not disappointed: the slices were huge and frankly just what […]

The Imperial Review

A new all-day restaurant, ‘The Imperial’, has opened in Fulham, and we were bursting to try it out. So bright and early on Saturday morning, that’s just what we did. The lunch and dinner menus both look delicious, but we’re always on the look out for a new place in Fulham that does the perfect sleepy weekend breakfast/brunch, so that’s the meal we opted for. This was the first Saturday that The Imperial had been open for breakfast, so it was fairly quiet, but that doesn’t reflect the quality of the food or service. The restaurant is very modern and […]

Floridita Hot Rum Bar Review

Last week, Floridita launched a Hot Rum Bar for the Christmas season, which will be open until early February. It is located in their subterranean Rum Shack, with a perfect view of the long bar so you can watch your hot cocktails being prepared – always my favourite part! We were shown to a sofa, where we could just sit back and relax: all of the sofas are covered in comfy throws and cushions, so it is the perfect place to snuggle up and catch up with friends over Christmas. As well as the usual Rum Shack menu, there is […]

Dim Sum Sundays at Hakkasan : Review

The Handbook decided to make a change from its usual Sunday lunch haunts to try something a little bit different and headed over to Hanway Place for Dim Sum Sundays at Hakkasan. Having joined up with Champagne house Perrier Jouёt, Hakkasan are offering guests six courses of dim sum and puddings alongside half a bottle of Perrier-Jouët Blason Rosé. Hakkasan may be Michelin-starred and it may be all dark ornate wood, neon-lit bars and the bathrooms may be a complete mystery (‘is that a wall or is it a door?’), but pretentious it is not. The emphasis is on long, […]
