Cocktail Masterclass at Mansion Bar and Parlour

A major part of the London bar scene is the drinks (obviously) but more specifically the cocktails, with punters perusing the menu for various alcoholic concoctions with varying degrees of luminosity and ability to get you sloshed. But have you ever imagined yourself behind the bar, putting Tom Cruise to shame with your ability to skilfully whiz the cocktail shaker around like a professional juggler? Mansion Bar and Parlour is hosting a cocktail class that runs the first Thursday of every month but this is no ordinary cocktail class, oh no, this a Molecular and Carbonised Cocktail Masterclass! The Handbook […]

The Lockhart Review

Last week The Handbook headed over to Marble Arch for a little bit of good old fashioned South Western American food at The Lockhart. We arrived as the restaurant was filling up, a few people at the bar and families and couples around the small white wooden tables which were adorned with mismatch crockery. The restaurant itself is minimal think exposed bricks and wooden floors- yet it is still cosy, with twinkling candles and warm soft lights. We snuck off downstairs to the bar, naturally, to start with cocktails. Forget sugary pinks and chemical greens these cocktails are all about […]

Boisdale of Bishopsgate

City stalwart, Boisdale of Bishopsgate opened over a decade ago and the establishment reflects the eclectic and idiosyncratic atmosphere of its sister restaurant in Belgravia with those signature end of Empire style interiors – think dark reds and greens and an extensive collection of paintings and objets d’art – providing a clubbable environment with that inimitable tartan twist. Now, however, in response to our growing love affair with posh fast food, Boisdale of Bishopsgate has launched its brand new Burger & Oyster bar. Diners choose between fillings of Aberdeen Angus beef prime rib, Wild Highland venison and Fillet and bone […]
