Dinner at Elistano

Friday night in Chelsea and the King’s Road is beginning to fill up. The same however, couldn’t be said for Elistano, the Italian restaurant just off Sloane Avenue. At its peak, there were just 4 tables occupied including my own. Despite the poor turnout, there were no excuses for slack service, and it wasn’t. Lulu and I were served by a waiter and waitress who took it in turns to serve us – both extremely efficient and courteous. For starters we ordered the Selection of Deep Fried Seafood to share with a Tartar sauce. It was delish and the selection […]

Oscar Escapades

Last night saw the return of the Academy Awards (officially rebranded as The Oscars, as of last week!), the annual celebration of the best in the movie world. It feels as if the Oscar planners were gunning for a younger audience after it was reported the ceremony was ‘more grey than gold’ – with Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane as host, they definitely had an edge. Although somewhat funny, some critics have slammed Seth for his bad jokes – case in point his cringe-worthy song ‘We Saw Your Boobs’ which saw Charlize Theron face-palm in the audience. On to the […]

As a host he follows in the steps of Jack Whitehall, Russell Brand, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost to name a few. After finding out he got the gig he was quoted as saying […]

Enjoy delicacies such as fillet of cod with globe artichokes, smoked tomatoes and capers, Cornish lamb and spring vegetable pie with champ, or slow roast duck with braised peas, bacon, pearl onions and orange. Pizza East: King of Pizzas

Sometimes all you want to eat is pizza and nothing else will do. When that craving calls you need to forget going to your local takeaway and head to Pizza East for proper pizza. The restaurant is quite dark and industrial with exposed concrete, bared wooden walls and simple neutral colours, but the warm low lights are inviting and inside there are a mixture of small and large tables as well as a bar to sit at for drinks. On Monday The Handbook headed over to the Kentish Town branch (there are three, Shoreditch, Portobello and Kentish Town) to try […]
