Fornata on Kingly Street

Last night The Handbook visited Fornata on Kingly Street for some classic Italian food. If you are looking to have a three course meal in the usual, starter, main course, pudding order then this isn’t the place to come, Fornata is more informal and is all about bringing the food out in the order that it is ready, it does make it slightly awkward if one person’s dish is brought out first and the other is waiting or if two bowls of salad are sat on your table waiting for the main plates to arrive. But it is perfect if you […]

Gourmet burgers arrive in Cambridge

The burger may be regarded as the staple of fast food restaurants and late-night drunken feasts, but Byron are working hard to re-invent the burgers image. The restaurant, already with 25 venues across London, is starting to spread their ‘proper hamburgers’ ideology with a new opening in Cambridge. The launch in March will introduce the University City to gourmet patties made with quality Scottish beef, minced freshly every morning and served in a soft squishy bun. Perfect Pork at Roast

The name Roast invokes the idea of that great British tradition of Sunday roast lunch and country pubs, yet the restaurant Roast is anything but a country pub, yes it is British and yes it does great roasts, but country pub it is not. It is that understated glamour that Britain does so well. Standing above Borough Market, Roast whisks you away from the bustle and crowding of the noisy market below, yet the glass walls and huge windows let you look down on the city and the busy streets of London Bridge.  Inside you won’t hear any of the […]

Borough Market Welcomes Back The Wheatsheaf

Borough market welcomes back its most loved pub, The Wheatsheaf and we are rather excited! With a lick of paint and some new features the pub which has been closed for the past three years is well and truly back. Originally built in 1772 this iconic pub has not forgotten its heritage  keeping its wooden panelling and open fire places, but interior designer Jamie Derry from LAP Design has offset these with new quirky features such as an eclectic mix of colours and cow hide. The new heated terrace is home to the campervan kitchen and the vintage Wheatsheaf bicycle […]
