Fire & Feathers

Burlesque? Carnival come early? Nope, Fire & Feathers is a new resto and bar devoted to Portuguese piri piri chicken, opening today on Fulham Road’s restaurant strip. It’s the brainchild of first time restaurateur Harry Deighton and made its debut as a pop-up last summer at the Earl of Portobello pub in Notting Hill. Deighton became a piri piri obsessive during holidays in Portugal’s Algarve region. Tapping into the current fast food trend for abbreviated menus, there are just four starters, four mains and four desserts featuring the likes of garlic prawns, charcuterie and sides of sweet potato mash alongside […]

Kitchenette: Review

Since having opened in Istabul in 2005, the Turkish café, bar and brasserie, Kitchenette, has gone from strength to strength with a total of 24 being opened well across the borders into Baku, St Petersburg and last November it came to Putney. Situated on Putney Bridge Road, the 80 seat café and bar is light and airy with earthy, natural colours reflecting its Istanbul roots.  Seeing as the sun was shining though, we took to the terrace outside, ordered two spicy Bloody Marys and perused the all-day dining menu. Their approach is traditional Turkish cooking with a modern Istanbul inspired […]
