A Capital Tea

Londoners in the know have long been flocking to The Capital Hotel to experience its quintessentially English afternoon tea hotel but now it seems that word has spread as the Knightsbridge favourite has just received the Tea Guild’s Award of Excellence for Top London Afternoon Tea 2012. It’s in pretty good company as it’s now up there with Claridge’s, The Savoy and The Ritz. The awards are judged by a team of undercover inspectors and are only bequeathed to those establishments that show the greatest commitment to tea service. So pop along to The Sitting Room between 2.30pm and 5.30pm […]

Tequila Tom

Restaurateur and lover of all things Mexican, Tom Conran has just re-launched the super-premium Tequila Chamucos. Distilled using only 100% weber blue agave, it’s made in the alpine forests of Mazamitla in Jalisco from water drawn directly from the mountain rock. Classical music is played during the double distillation process, which is undertaken by women only, due to the natural lightness of touch of the fairer sex! Every bottle of Chamucos, or little devil, is made from hand-blown glass and its distinctive packaging draws upon the legends of pre-Hispanic Mexico. The brand was originally conceived by Mexican film director Antonio […]

Afternoon Tease

Kettner's have just announced the launch of their devilish new hen party package, the Champagne Afternoon Tease, bringing together the classic delights of an afternoon tea with the hottest trend to hit clubs, bars and fashion – the glamourous art of burlesque. The 'Tease' was inspired by the hugely successful Kettner's Coquette events, and starts with a full afternoon tea in one the private rooms, washed down with a glass of champagne and the chance to order a demure-looking pot of 'MarTEAni'. The hen can then choose to add either the Pout and Proud package, to pamper her party – […]

A Very British Afternoon Tea

Should you be taking a turn about Whitehall this Spring, we suggest you take some time out to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee at the beautifully regal, and suitably grand, Guoman Royal Horseguards hotel.  The hotel's Very British Afternoon Tea goes a step above the rest with its divine selection of carefully-crafted patisserie treats. Dainty sandwiches have been upgraded to include roast beef (supposedly Her Majesty's favourites); a pretty crown jewel cupcake; dark chocolate and peppermint creams; and artfully decorated biscuits in the shapes of favourite London landmarks. Knock it all back with a lemon and Martini meringue pie, […]
