HGV: Hungry Grassy Van

Ever since their launch back in 1999, Innocent drinks have tried to educate us all on the importance of the ‘five-a-day’ through their moreish smoothies and flavoured water. This September, they aim to do it all over again – only this time their focus will be on food. As of 9th September, Innocent will be touring the country (London is its starting point) and delivering just-as-good-as-a-burger healthy food to the hungry masses. Taking recipes out of the recently-launched family cookbook ‘Hungry?’, co-written by Anna Jones, a former employee of Jamie Oliver, the HGV will be driving around the UK with goodies in […]

Westfield Stratford City

While we may not be overly enthralled at the prospect of the Tube closures and general TFL mayhem in the run up to the 2012 Olympic Games, we are, none the less, getting rather excited at the prospect of Westfield Stratford City with its fast encroaching opening date of 13 September this year at the gateway to the Olympic Park. The 1.9 million sq ft development will create a new lifestyle destination for London that will infuse shopping and leisure with the creative spirit for which East London has become famous. Our House at V Festival

Looking forward to V Festival at the weekend? We certainly are – not least to catch Eminem and Rihanna singing Love The Way You Lie on the Virgin Media stage at Hylands Park on Sunday. However, there’s so much more guaranteed to keep us entertained. We know we shouldn’t gloat but we can wait to hang in the Louder Lounge where you’ll find us swapping glad rags for vintage in Cupboard Love, topping up our tans courtesy of St Tropez, having a festival face-off with the MAC girls and having our talons a thorough overhaul at the brilliant WAH […]

Satsuma

Soho’s much missed urban-style restaurant Satsuma, Japanese flagship of the Royal China Group is re-opening on 29 August following an extensive refurbishment. The signature colour scheme of orange and grey will remain and the two floor restaurant will retain its floor-to-ceiling glass frontage overlooking Wardour Street’s quirky boutiques but the redesign will take in ultra-cool futuristic pod-style seating enclosed on four sides with windows in the roof for subtle lighting. There’s a new menu as well to match seeing Satsuma's authentic Japanese cuisine shifting its focus to specialise in Japanese Katsu curries. The idea is that you build your own […]

Shoes, Selfridges Shoes…

They’ve shod Serge Gainsbourg and Rudolf Nureyev, and are the brains behind the quaint BB pump, originally designed exclusively for the 1950s pin-up, Brigitte Bardot. But Repetto, the French ballet shoes company created in 1947, whose undying popularity has ensured it remains a modern-day favourite with the likes of Kate Moss and Mick Jagger, has come to London. From today (until September 12), Paris-based Repetto are making a corner of Selfridges their home. An atelier, stacked full with various trims, laces and an eye-straining 250 colours, will be where shoppers and shoe aficionados will be invited to create their very own perfect pair of ballerina pumps. But be warned. They usually […]

Auchentoshan Presents…

If you thought whisky was an old man’s drink, think again. And Auchentoshan – a triple distilled Single Malt whisky, with a twist – is this month setting out to prove that the tipple is not one exclusive to late-night-drinking ‘pipe and slipper-wearinggentleman’. This robust, simply-packaged whisky is different, as it’s the only Single Malt that triple distils every single drop (its triple distillation gives it its smooth and delicate flavour). But how are they intending to persuade us to fall head over heels with it? By introducing itself via East London-based Shacklewell Nights, London’s most talked about supper club. On Thursday 18th August, Auchentoshan Presents […]
