80 Future Great Trees

We are lucky that London is such a green city. But imagine if we could do away with some of its roads…. and plant even more trees? A tricky feat, but there is some good news, at least. Environmental charity Trees for Cities (founded eighteen years ago in order to carry on the work started by the Victorians, who planted most of the large-canopy around the capital), are joining up with The Dorchester this end-of-year, to create ‘Future Great Trees’. Together, they will plant 80 long living canopy trees across London over the next 12 months. “The Dorchester’s gift of 80 […]

Roti Chai

Almost 3 years in the making, Roti Chai’s colourful street level street kitchen and basement dining room have been a real labour of love for its creator, Rohit Chugh. An industrial style interior on ground features old-school headlights and hand-drawn posters around a ‘hole in the wall’ open kitchen hatch while the downstairs dining room was created to resemble an old Indian train with luggage racks adorning the walls and banquette seating lit by colourful handmade cage lanterns. The ground floor all-day dining menu was inspired by Chugh’s childhood memories of food served at street stalls and roadside cafes across […]

I do, Cinnamon Kitchen

Indian weddings are well-known for their magnetic pageantry. But is it your dream to recreate the country’s inimitable pomp for your own special day? Well,  you’ve come to the right place. Tie the knot on the restaurant’s terrace or within the sumptuous ‘Maharaja Marquee’, before cocktails and canapes (Singh has a mouth-watering variety: grilled aubergine with peanut crumbled yoghurt and lamb seekh kebab in roomali bread), and a ‘wedding feast’ with its very own a la […]
