Designs on the royal wedding

The Royal Wedding is bringing out the inner kitch queen in all of us (remember YO! Sushi’s lucky kitten souvenir plates?) and shoe designer Patrick Cox is no exception. The Soho bakery, Cox Cookies and Cake, which he set up with Cake Boy extraordinaire, Eric Lanlard, will be creating a Brits range to celebrate the imminent royal nuptials with an extremely patriotic patisserie collection. There’s the Queen Cake, the British Bulldog Cake, the Crown Cake, the Mohawk Cake topped with a punk Mohican (we’re not sure about the wedding connection in this case but are happy to go along with […]

The Arch Bar

Just opened at the InterContinental London Park Lane at Number One Park Lane is The Arch Bar – so named as it boasts a great view of London’s iconic Wellington Arch. In its former incarnation, it was the Lobby but has been totally reinvented. The relaxed contemporary space features a largely gin-focused list: there are twenty five different types of gin – we had no idea so many existed. However, a wide spectrum of other spirits are also available, many of which are supplied by a number of virtually undiscovered artisan London producers and all of which are of the […]

Pair this with the homemade cake and mugs of hot java and you’re starting to paint a very pretty (idle) picture. Should you want […]

Pollen Street Social

It’s been an unspeakably long time coming but then again, Jason’s been rather a busy boy. However, reservation lines for his debut London eaterie Pollen Street Social are due to open (and, we anticipate, to ring off the hook) on 31 March, three weeks before the venue launches on 18 April. Ramsay protégé, Atherton, left Maze restaurant in May 2010 and we can’t wait to see what he can do left to his own devices. He describes the Pollen Street Social menu as “having one foot in the past and the other in the future” – meaning that where classical […]

Champagne Taittinger, famed for its specially commissioned artist designed vintage bottles has added a new creative to its collection. Senegalese Amadou Sow has created a limited edition bottle for the house’s 2002 Vintage and the new bottle will be available from the end of this month. Sow’s collection, the twelfth in Taittinger’s ongoing series, is named ‘Cosmic Pearls’ and depicts an evening in Africa with vibrantly coloured champagne bubbles on a black backdrop representing the continent’s star-studded sky and the universe beyond. The series was the brainchild of Claude Taittinger who approached Hungarian artist Victor Vasarely in 1983 as he […]
