Cantinetta

Locanda Locatelli is certainly a hotbed for spawning new culinary talent. In July we reported on the opening of Tintello in Pimlico from Locanda alumni, Max and Federico Sali. Not only did they have the blessing of the entrepreneur and his wife Plaxy but even scored financial backing! And now chef Federico Turri who spent seven years working with Giorgio has joined forces with restaurateur Rebecca Mascarenhas to launch new restaurant and bar Cantinetta this month in Putney. Turri himself hails from a background of restaurateurs and his family ran a hotel and restaurant near Milan in northern Italy. Mascarenhas […]

How much is that doggy…

How much is that doggy in the window? If it’s from Harvey Nics you can bet your bottom dollar it’s expensive but we’ll forgive them as this viral Christmas campaign is sheer genius. And yes, just like our four legged friends here, Harvey Nichols is for life and not just for Christmas. But you already knew that right? However, on a more serious festive note, if you’ve been reduced to a gibbering wreck by the cuteness of the furry things featuring in this ad and not just by the covetable fashion, put some money (and chocolate) where your mouth is […]

Brawn

It’s been two years but finally we’re getting a follow up to Covent Garden’s Terroirs with the launch of Brawn, new opening from Ed Wilson and Oli Barker, setting up shop in East London’s Columbia Road. The natural wine bar and bistro sits right in the heart of London’s legendary flower market and will be open daily for lunch and dinner and from 8am on Sundays for breakfast. The proportions of the former Victorian furniture-making warehouse with its high ceilings and huge double aspect windows lend themselves perfectly to the 70-seater restaurant which is divided into two spaces. Local artists […]

Pop culture almost ate itself after last year’s X Factor contestant Stacey Solomon appeared and attempted to present on this year’s final in support of fellow Essex hopeful and eventual winner Matt Cardle.  The 21-year-old appeared on I’m A Celebrity last month and was crowned the Queen of The Jungle. Having won over the public again and the show’s runner-up Shaun Ryder, the pair are now set to record a cover of The Pogue’s and Kirsty McColl’s Fairytale of New York. She is set to earn £1million next year with reported meetings with high profile companies such as T-Mobile and […]

Matt Cardle

Following Matt Cardle’s X factor win last weekend he’s already tipped to top the Christmas charts with his cover of Biffy Clyro’s Many Of Horror (When We Collide), having sold 112,000 copies in just two days. Besides being hit with tabloid tales of romping with make-up artists, casting aside stylists and his loyal ex-girlfriend to concentrate on his career, it’s being reported that Matt is set to earn £5million this year alone – £1 million from modelling contracts, £1million from live performances including the X Factor tour, £1.5million from commercial deals and £2million from record sales. And he’ll have to […]

Rebecca Ferguson

Despite losing out on the £1million recording contract to Matt Cardle, Rebecca Ferguson has been still been signed by Simon Cowell’s label SyCo. The 24-year-old mother-of-two is set to make £500,000 from the UK X Factor tour and if Matt Cardle’s been snapped up for a bit of £1million modelling, no doubt so will she. And with all the judges constantly commending her “perfect recording voice” while she was on the show, she should achieve success with the release of a debut album next year.
