Where there’s a will, there’s a way… Fans of the super stretchy, super raunchy lifestyle brand American Apparel can revel in the news that the company has been saved from bankruptcy after a tenuous period on the financial brink. With more than $91million needed to put the chain back on its feet, it was a sticky situation for the international brand which has a massive 280 stores. We Are Family

Street style took off years ago, when a certain Mr Schuman raised the profile of the average pedestrian by documenting funky thrown-together creations throughout the globe’s fashion capitals. Another keen purveyor of a more au naturel style is French label Comptoir des Cotonniers, who have notably used mother-daughter duos through their ad campaigns since their birth way back in 1997 – their latest stylish combo is blogger Louise Ebel, better known in the online community as Miss Pandora, and her mother Sylvie Ebel who manages the French Institute of Fashion… But could it be you and your mother taking their […]

Eight Over Eight

Laid low by a fire in October 2009, as of last week, Eight Over Eight is back on the Chelsea fixture list with a slick new bar area making a feature of that giant oriental screen that was previously wasted as a window decoration. And while that blonded just-walked-out-of-the-newly-opened-Hari's glossiness is still in evidence, Eight Over Eight's renaissance is attracting a far more interesting Sloane that Kate Middleton in a […]

All proceeds from the two-night spectacular in Binney Street are being donated to StreetSmart, London Restaurant Festival’s official charity. “As I am not opening my new restaurant until January 2011, I really want to use my time to put something back into London,” says Jason. Burberry Acoustic

Music often maketh the fashion show. For years the accompanying soundtrack to a designer’s sashaying collection has fallen under scrutiny from the fash pack, in a bid to marry audio and visual cool factors. Thankfully the British Fashion Council has teamed up with Sony to create a seasonal album series entitled “The Collection for London Fashion Week”, which kicked off this week with a compilation from young legend Christopher Bailey over at Burberry. “Volume One – Burberry Acoustic” is now available from the iTunes store, or on a real old-fashioned record at various fashionable London stores (Start, Browns, Cruise, Matches). Fortunately for Entwisle’s models, though, they weren’t expected to don swathes of dead cow but elegant brooches and hair accessories fashioned as modern day attelets. For grand banquets, chefs would also thread whole truffles and blanched coxcombs onto dishes such as boars’ heads. Antonin Carême, the Georgian era’s answer to celebrity […]
