Sambrooks Brewery & The Cadogan Arms

Last week saw The Handbook head to Sambrooks Brewery in Battersea, one of London’s local microbreweries, and due to celebrate its fifth birthday this year. The owner Duncan kindly showed us around the place, which was a fascinating experience and definitely a treat for any ale lover (tours are available to the public). Sambrooks are dedicated to providing a locally-sourced product, and they find 99% of their ingredients in the UK, the majority of which comes from less than 100 miles away! We also sampled several of the Sambrook ales – they have two constant brews (the original ‘Wandle’ and […]

Great Gatsby Nights

A  pinch of glamour, a splash of jazz, a whirl of art and culture, mix in frivolity, dust in pearls and feathers and  we have the Roaring 1920s. Post war the economy flourished, technology developed and the parties grew bigger, and what book is a better portrayal of this luxury  than The Great Gatsby?  So it only seems that the correct way to celebrate the release of Baz Luhrman’s adaptation of the The Great Gatsby is with a party or two, or if you are like the Hyatt Regency Churchill, five.  Every Thursday evening during May The Montagu restaurant will […]

Roll up, roll up for Circus

The first thing that has to be said about Circus London is that it is pure escapism. As soon as you step through those doors you are transported out of the bustle of Covent Garden and into the bustle of what only can be described as a surreal, unique cocktail fantasy. Outside the hype is noisy and people are pushing to and fro trying to get around the streets, the atmosphere inside though is high energy, fun and excitable. Everything is wonderfully glamorous, from the dark sleek interior to the waitresses, who were friendly and attentive without checking on us […]
