Brit confused?

In anticipation of the 2009 Brit Awards this evening, comment must be made on some of the questionable nominees up for awards (not least on Scouting For Girls, who’ve somehow managed to make it into three categories). The award ceremony, held at London’s Earls Court, will be presented by Kylie Minogue, James Corden and Mathew Horne (with the Gavin and Stacey stars admitting they’ve yet to rehearse) and a no doubt eccentric and entertaining performance by Lady GaGa with the Petshop Boys expected to be one of the highlights of the night. But looking at some of the nominations, the […]

In Bed With…

Guests saucily crammed into the Artesian Bar at The Langham London for the launch of erotic book In Bed With on Wednesday evening. Kathy Lette led the pack and was on fine form tottering around in dangerously high heels and a skin tight leopard print dress which she gaily told The Handbook her daughter picked out for her. This was a fabulous soiree full of authors, actors and a fair few hacks who sipped on scrumptious Foxy Flower (Snow Queen Vodka and passion fruit) cocktails.  Boris’s naughty sister Victoria Johnson turned up in nothing but a dark trench coat and […]

Asked whether she found it hard to keep up the innovative bohemian creations she is known for she answered: ‘I don’t feel pressure to wear great outfits I just worry that I’ll do something stupid like fall down the stairs.’ Reassuring […]

Despite the differences across her range of products, Wang maintains a single consistent vision, ensuring everything she does is an “expression of her own personal design vocabulary”. The footwear collection follows in the classic style we have come to expect of Vera Wang, who describes her debut as “very much a stylist-girl-meets-street attitude”, with “a bit of femininity and toughness”. 15 styles will go on […]

And this year The Peggy Guggenheim Collection aims to repeat that success by staging an exhibition dedicated to Futurism, to mark the centenary year of the publication of Filippo Tommaso Marinetti’s founding manifesto of Italian Futurism. The exhibition, which is called the Gianni Mattiolo Collection, will hold installations, paintings, sculptures as well as iconic paintings from the period. The collection will also include works by the five artists – Balla, Boccioni, Carrà, Russolo and Severini – who signed the Technical Manifesto of Futurist Painting in 1910, […]
