The Immersive Pirate Experience That’ll Get You Peg-Legless

AHOY, me hearties. How about walking the boards of The Hidden Spirit; a pirate ship docking up in London to get you peg-legless with its treasure trove of tipples? This November, Jack Sparrow will be replaced with a new man of the seas – a Captain Jack Cassidy – who’ll bring a real pirate ship alongside St Mary Overie Dock for an immersive and theatrical cocktail experience. The ship is sailing in courtesy of Inventive Productions (the group behind Alcotraz and Moonshine Saloon) and will see guests taken on a mischievous journey through treasured-laden rooms, drinking cocktails along the way. Winterville Is Coming…

Regardless of whether you’ve been naughty or nice, Winterville is coming to town. Clapham Old Town. London’s relentless appetite for artisanal foodie pop-up street markets knows no bounds, which is why Clapham Common is about to get a makeover in the form of at least 25 traders, plus live music and general festivities, all behind a big metal barrier that’ll spoil your sunset Instas but presumably keeps the riff-raff out. As will the £2 entry fee (£5 on Friday and Saturday evenings but, Brucie Bonus, it’s free on Tuesdays – so that’s when I’ll be going then). And what’ll I […]

B&H’s New Rooftop Garden Room Promises A Good Thyme

In the age of social media, the opportunity to grab a photo of anything iconic is sure to boost the ‘ol likes, and give us that physiological high – yep, you actually get a squirt of dopamine when you get a positive response on social! Suffice to say, if you love a view, and snapping a photo of one, you’ll love B&H Garden Room (Bourne & Hollingsworth, not Benson & Hedges, as one nameless Handbook employee thought!); a space that combines coveted interiors with seasonal food (and outrageously must-see views of the city). We’re eager to visit, as should you […]

Paradise Freezes Over: The Beach Club Showing Festive Classics

Climate change deniers, cop a load of this for evidence: Tropicana Beach Club, the tropical island paradise located somewhere between the South Seas and Covent Garden (Parker Street, to be precise), has just frozen over. Welcome Frozen Island, the takeover from Neighbourhood Cinema. Swapping the usual palm-tree-cum-Hawaiian-shirt-cum-piña-colada (ew!) vibe of Tropicana Beach Club for a frozen wasteland (we’re not sure if this is a harbinger of large-scale climate change or if they’ve just swapped in some blue light bulbs), the stage is set for some seriously seasonal smashers. Bring in the projector. Fancy watching Polar Express, Elf or Willy Wonka and The […]

For Fawkes Sake, Try These Smokin’ Bonfire Night Cocktails!

Remember, remember, the fifth of November, long drink, cocktail or shot. Or something like that. Because today is not only a time to celebrate the fact that parliament wasn’t blown to smithereens in an audacious terrorist plot, but also a chance for bars to flog loosely Guy Fawkes night...

The World’s Most Instagrammable Hotel Staircases

If there’s one thing we learn from selfie culture it’s that EVERYTHING can be classed as Instagrammable. Put the term into our own website search and it’ll pull up Instagrammable cocktails, Instagrammable restaurants and, perhaps least congruously but most intriguingly, Instagrammable loos. So while against this backdrop Instagrammable hotel staircases doesn’t sound too silly after all, when you see them you’ll realise this totally stands up. If this was the 80s this article would be an expensive coffee table book. Just sayin’.   St Pancras Renaissance Hotel London St Pancras International (0 miles) This staircase really does get around, one […]

There’s A Street Food Market Coming To Mayfair With A Roof Terrace

It’s a sign of the times that the building that was once Pacha has now become the next Market Hall, London is a city obsessed with food. Gone are the days of clubbing unless of course that’s the term you can say for eating too many artisanal club sandwiches. Well now it’s Mayfair’s turn as Grosvenor Britain & Ireland have announced that Mercato Metropolitano the sustainable community food market is opening a second site on the newly restored Grade I listed St Mark’s on North Audley Street. Spread across four floors and focussing on local and sustainable producers, there’ll be […]
