10 Quick Recipes For Any Occasion

Even the keenest of cooks can sometimes lack a bit of culinary inspiration. We all like to work hard and play hard and occasionally the mere thought of having to slave over a hot stove amongst the chaos of London life can feel overwhelming. So here are some simple and no-nonsense recipes for when you want something delicious to eat, but don’t quite have the time or energy to devote to an elaborate feast (and the Deliveroo app is broken).

We Review: The Hamilton Inspired Afternoon Tea at The Lanesborough

What? Hamilton, it’s the most talked about musical to hit the West End since the Book of Mormon and right now the hottest ticket in town. I didn’t get tickets, the self-defeatist in me came out and I didn’t even try to go get them (that coupled with the fact that I completely forgot), what I did get though was the chance to go to The Lanesborough for the new Hamilton inspired afternoon tea – the Alexander Hamilton Tea. New? Yes, having launched at the start of the year, it’s a chance for those who got tickets to have a […]

There’s a New Gin Festival Coming to London

Wandsworth: home to The Handbook HQ, but more importantly (and there aren’t many things that are more important than us), home to a new gin festival from the guys at The Gin Society. Taking place on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th March, there’ll be over 120 different gins from all around the world to try, including a wide range of new craft fruit gins, sloe gin and prosecco fizz. Over at the Guest Bar, you’ll be able to learn facts (and fibs) about how Londoners became obsessed with gin during the gin craze as well as trying new and more […]

We Review: Santa Maria Fitzrovia

What? The award-winning pizzeria, that started life off in a teeny tiny site in Ealing, has now made it to the magic number with the launch of their third restaurant, Santa Maria Fitzrovia. New? Brand, spanking, can still smell the paint, new. Following on from a two-week soft launch, they officially opened on Valentine’s Day. Wise move, seeing as for most of us, pizza is our true bae. Where? For their third site they’ve chosen their most central location, New Cavendish Street: Santa Maria, 160 New Cavendish Street, Fitzrovia, W1W 6YR www.santamariapizzeria.com The Look: Taking its inspiration from the Italian […]

The Grosvenor’s New Restaurant

A taste of the Middle East is coming to The Grosvenor, in the form of Dubai restaurant, Rüya, which will be heading overseas for the first time. Said to be opening on the site of an empty bank building which is adjacent to Corrigan Mayfair, the 100-cover restaurant will have its own entrance and will specialise in dishes from Anatolia. Whilst the menu is yet to be confirmed, we’re expecting to see the likes of spiced black cod with ezme, avocado haydari and crispy sujuk; lahmacun, a dish of spicy lamb vegetables and herbs and 24-hour slow cooked short rib […]

The Postal Museum’s New Exhibition: Voices From the Deep

On 16th February 1941, the merchant steam boat, SS Gairsoppa was torpedoed off the coast of Ireland by a German U-Boat. On board the boat were more than 700 personal letters, until now they have been trapped for 77 years on the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, a mile deeper than the Titanic. Preserved by an airlock that formed as the boat sank, twelve bundles of letters have now been recovered alongside a silver ingot that was making its way from colonial India to the UK. And now you can see them at The Postal Museum’s new temporary exhibition, Voices […]
