Savage Garden: The New City Rooftop Bar

Savage Garden, not just that Australian duo who sang classic 90s hits like Truly Madly Deeply and To the Moon & Back, but also now a new sky-high bar opening in the City. Who knows whether the founders are mega fans of the pop duo or are inspired by author Anne Rice’s quote, ‘beauty is a savage garden’, but what we do know is that it is going to be a study in experimentation and temptation, a twist, botanical world set 12 storeys above the streets of London. Sitting on top of the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel London – Tower […]

London Wine Week is Back

There are so many ‘national’ days now that we take most of them with a pinch of cynicism, sorry but we’re not going to celebrate national pear day, one that we are ready to celebrate isn’t just a day, but a whole week and it starts on Monday: London Wine Week. Over 125 of the best wine bars and restaurants across the city will be serving over 500 different wines as part of tasting flights and ‘Sip & Snack’ food pairings as part of the seven -day adventure. There’ll be a new Hub in the garden of Flat Iron Square […]

A New Restaurant ‘Brand’ Arrives from Los Angeles

The man behind Zuma restaurants, ROKA, Oblix and Florida’s ETARU has just launched a new project, INKO NITO. And judging by the the fact they’re dubbing it a ‘new restaurant brand’, we suspect this might be the birth of another global phenomenon. The brainchild of Rainer Becker and chef Hamish Brown, the restaurant launched in Los Angeles’ Art District in December and now comes to Soho’s Broadwick Street. So, other than a ‘brand’, what is it, I hear you wonder? It’s ‘unconventional Japanese robatayak’. And a glance at Wikipedia tells me that robatayak ‘literally translates as fireside cooking’. Okay, so tell me actual facts. […]

Awesome Afternoon Teas

The New Gin Themed Afternoon Tea to Land in Soho

Gin, it’s our favourite spirit (that’s a plural Londoners our, we don’t take sides here), it’s the epitome of the British summer drink, yep even Pimms is gin-based, a fact we should all know if we want to consider ourselves true Brits, so what could be both more summery and British than a gin themed afternoon tea? Perhaps the Royal Family eating it at a cricket match, but let’s not be pedantic here. Try the World’s Oldest Sandwich

First of all, it’s not actually the world’s oldest sandwich, because that would be nothing more than dust now, unless of course they had whatever makes McDonalds seemingly unable to decompose back in the Qin dynasty of Shanxi Province (that’s 221 BC to 206 BC if you don’t know your dynasties). Instead, Mayfair restaurant, Murger HanHan is using a secret recipe that has been passed down through generations from their ancestors to create the sandwich and with the family who own the restaurant also having come from Shanxi Province you’ll be biting in to a little bit of history. Then […]

We Review: Rudy’s Dirty Vegan Diner

What: London’s first 100% vegan diner. New? As any vegan worth their salt will know, Camden is the place to go for vegan food with more and more vegan eateries popping up by the week. Rudy’s Dirty Vegan Diner is the newest addition as of April 2018, joining neighbours like Young Vegans and V Burger. Where? It took us no less than 20 minutes to find this place even with Google Maps and asking several other stalls and staff; so you don’t struggle like we did it’s about 10 seconds from The Cheese Bar. North Yard, Camden Market, NW1 8AH […]

London’s Coolest Terrace Gets A Makeover

The igloos have melted! We all went wild over the plastic pods lining The Thames back in winter, and the Eskimos In Chief had to be Coppa Club who had the original (and, we thought, the best) igloos of the lot. Well now they’ve transformed their pods into ‘Paradise Pods’. The pods (which are basically igloos without the perspex coverings) have been decorated in their new Tulum (Mayan) theme, so plenty of bold colour and foliage thanks to luscious palms and cacti. Lounge away on a beanbag in private pod while admiring the stunning skyline and river (Coppa Club is by Tower […]

The Boxsets We’ve Been Watching This Month

I know we spend most of our evenings out tasting and drinking for your enjoyment, but somehow we also seem to find enough moments to binge watch entire seasons of mediocre to good telly. Here’s what we’ve been watching this month… Editor Emily‘s Watching: Ordeal by Innocence Sarah Philips’ take on Agatha Christie’s Ordeal by Innocence was already surrounded by drama before it even aired, with the team having to reshoot all the scenes including Ed Westwick following allegations of sexual assault. So, when it did hit our screens this Easter rather than the usual Christmas slot, there was even more […]

Ottolenghi is Opening a New Restaurant: ROVI

The man who inspires most of London’s dinner party menus, Ottolenghi is set to open a new restaurant with his team this summer. And since Brangelina, Bennifer and Hiddleswift are all no more, we’re going to bring you a new one, ROVI. No, we haven’t gone off on a tangent, it’s the name of the restaurant, it’s a little bit of NOPI, a little bit of Fitzrovia but it’s doing its own thing with vegetables and sustainability taking centre stage. There’ll be a new focus on fermentation, cooking over fire and making the most of leftovers to create new dishes. […]
